From Prof on COYS about 15 minutes before the bid being rejected hitting the news. The shorter contract is what I reckon will happen and suggested it a few weeks ago as the best move for everyone.

A mixture of info from Gawain and a new source.

We have put two contract options in front of Harry and his reps.
A long term incentive laden contract to remove the uncertainty for us and for him. Barring significant injury he’d break Shearer’s record and pretty much retire as a Spurs player.
A mid-range contract with buyout clause that would put us in a similar position next summer as we are this summer. This option would give us at least another year of Harry, and give him time to decide whether he’s buying in to our future under Ange, as well as setting a minimum sale price.

No idea if he’ll negotiate a bit and then sign one of them, sign neither and leave on a free next summer, or be sold before this window closes. DL wants a decision asap so Spurs know how much they’ll have to spend and which positions they’ll need to focus on for the remainder of the window.

This week provides much for both HK and DL to ponder.
Interesting. Speculating, I wonder if this news is lagging a bit, and that Harry has chosen one of those two contract options (IMO the second is much more likely) and has communicated this to DL. The club, not wanting Harry to burn the Bayern bridge for next summer have said that rather than him appearing to 'turn down' BMs offer, the club will reject it for him.

Everyone gets a bit of something; We get HK for a season more, he gets breathing space to see how things pan out with Ange (plus increased wedge) but also a way out next summer, and BM can still dream of finally winning a Bundesliga title after all these years.

Right, that's that sorted. Pint?

Amazon must be absolutely gutted with the season they chose to cover us. This storyline is far better than moaning Danny Rose threatening to go see Daniel.

the Prof update is encouraging, but Levy is still not suggesting that the boat will be pushed out to give H more belief in the Ange project? Instead it’s if you go mate we’ll be spending loads more.
Shame.

And fck you Bayern, Tuchel, and all who sail in you.

Massive risk this. But ballsy.

I still say If it was a better club than Bayern coming in, he’d have pushed this further before now.

I can’t see Levy turning the bud down without assurances Kane is very interested in signing a new deal.

I wonder what the USA trip was really about.

I don't think it is even that deep. Probably more just hedging his bets that this season will be such a success that Kane will eventually sign a new contract.

Let's hang fire on the celebrations just yet - if you think this is the end to the saga or indeed Kane signing a new deal then I think the percentages are pretty damn small.

Bayern haven't walked away from this deal
We haven't explicitly said we won't sell
Kane hasn't explicitly stated he wants to stay

Uncertainty still very much surrounds the situation and far from ideal for Ange and the rest of the team which is mine and should be everyone's priority here.

Agree. I expect more twists, potentially to the end of the window, unless a)Kane signs a new contract or b) Kane declares he is staying or c) Bayern declare they are moving on.

Having said that, this news plus Kane's playing time yesterday does change the outlook. As things stand now it looks like he is staying at least for the season.

The concern I've got with taking a gamble is I just don't feel Kane would sign a new deal here. Even if we went out and won both domestic cups and got top 4, I could imagine it being a great way to sign out for him and he would still look to move on.

If you could guarantee City, Madrid or Barca would not be looking to sign him next year, I think the gamble would be fair as if we do kick on and offer him a great deal I could see him thinking here is best. I just feel City offer you the chance to win trebles every season and the Spanish giants are the Spanish giants. If any of those are offering a deal I cannot see him staying here.

Also, as much as we would love to give the finger to Bayern and the German media circus. We have to forget about that and do what is best for the club long term even if that means selling Kane. Really tough choice as I can see the positives and negatives in both choices.
If we won a domestic cup I think he’d stay personally.

No disrespect to the itk's here but if JJ all of a sudden turns up in here posting a wink emoji I'll take that as Harry signing a new contract and I'll immediately start running around the office naked in celebration. I'll get fired and laughed at but it'll be worth it.

A few on here did that when Winks was sold, think bigger🙂

So if Bayern really did put the deadline in place I guess they won't bid again then....
I feel they believe they were already over-paying so doubt they will increase (also have shareholders to appease unlike us). Probably still all comes down to HK's reaction to DL's new offers (the timing of which seems odd but also very mind-fucking - bravo DL!) and DL's ultimate position in whether he still keeps him for final year or takes the money.

I think they will be back with another offer bit I agree I reckon Levy is gambling we will sin something and he will sign another contract

Hopefully that turns into a direct instruction to take the cups seriously (not that I think it's needed as Ange will want to smash every game)

I know we all love to give Levy shit, but he has balls of steel. His decision making is questionable at times, but I don't think he's put a foot wrong regarding the Kane situation this Summer.

This is exactly what we should want and hopefully some action to try and grease the groove that it will be a success too!
