Here is what still needs to happen:

Lloris - needs to find a team. This appears to be a Lloris issue more than a Spurs issue

Spence - needs a loan/sale. This appears to be a Spence issue - wanting a PL team, but not doing enough to attract interest.

Dier - Needs a sale - I expect this will happen near deadline day. We probably have not held him out as available until recently

Tanganga - needs a sale - agent seems to be looking in all the wrong places.

Sanchez - I think he has played himself back into the plans for this season.

Reguilon - needs a loan/option to Spain - I expect this will happen late.

Hojbjerg/Lo Celso - I think we are rightly holding out for a good offer for either, and would keep both if no offer appears. If the players want moves - they need to get their agents to find teams.

In Your opinion.

Cheers so if we can spend another 80 on Williams orban and tosin whilst selling what we can (say around 40m). Net Spend of 230m is acceptable comparatively speaking
Yes and no.

We should be thinking about it like this: Here is what we can afford to spend, and here is what we need to improve our chances of qualifying for CL.

Right now, we should be thinking - we need an experienced CB who can play in a high line and is comfortable playing the ball. Does not need to be a "starter"

We absolutely need 1 or 2 more attacking players - one winger, one more central.

IF, and only IF, we sell Lo Celso or Hojbjerg - we should consider another CM - but I would be ok if we ended up short here. Its not ideal if we were competing for the league - but we can get by and still compete for top-5.

So, whatever that cost is to plug those holes - that is what we should be spending (not necessarily spending big on any of those positions, but getting in players who have the right attributes)

Why would we sell Gio?
You're looking at 50 million to replace him like for like.
He's under contract and if Madddison is injured we don't have anyone to replace that skill set if we sell.

Lo Celso probably still has ambitions of playing for Argentina. He won't do that if he is nailed to the bench here.

So, I suspect it may be more an instance of Lo Celso wanting to leave - for a good fee - than Spurs wanting to sell.

And, if he is not part of the long-term plans here - then, it's really not a big deal to sell this season, even if it leaves us short in that creative role. In a pinch, Bentancur could be a poor-mans Maddison, if he played higher up the pitch.

Again - not ideal to sell, but not end of the world either.

I think Dier might be a bit disappointed at the list of clubs he could pick from in 2024, especially if he sits most of this season out.

Will probably have at least the options of mega money in SA or an experience in the MLS.

Anyone know anything on? The twitter ITK hub have linked us.
Yeah he looks an extremely exciting young talent. He’s a DM/CM, in regards to his style he’s been compared to Busquets in the past. Would be my ideal young replacement for PEH. But I’m not going to get my hopes up.

This is worth a read if you want to get excited by a player we probably wont sign.

Oooo I'm loving this Argentinian flavour we are bringing to the club. We must be a pretty delicious option for young, promising players over there. Given Romero and Lo Celso must be respected and well known.

Yeah same. It’s taken long enough tbh but the South American is an untapped resource for us. Part of me wonders if Levy has just realised how much success Brighton have been having and started wanting in. Aside from Argentina I’m also warming to the idea of getting Marcos Leonardo as an alternate to Orban if he’s too expensive. He’s been on fire lately and is supposedly available for only €20 mil.

We've been quite relaxed on this but this thread isn't meant to be an alternative ITK thread.
Apologies, I didn’t want to post it in the ITK thread as it’s twitter but thought it was worth discussion.

Yeah, it doesn't belong in the ITK thread which should tell you something! :)

Think I've seen reports that his dad wants him to stay in South America for two more years.

Tbf to baldy he did go fairly big last season. But has reverted to type this season

Just from rough figures calculated looks like net spend over least 2 years is 190m

Would be interesting to get a comparison from other top 6
You have to look at net spend in the context of the academy conveyor belt and the transfer hit rate though. And those things are difficult to quantify.

In sum, you don't need to spend big if you have a youth player ready to replace, or have made so many successful signings that less work needs doing. It would be interesting to see how those other clubs around us for net spend have done in this regard.

Considering over the past 5 years, Levy has generally failed on those counts then you need to spend even more to compensate and he hasn't. He is also wholly responsible for improving the hit rate and ensuring there is a conveyor belt of talent by what appointments he makes, and what autonomy he gives those people. There are zero excuses.

It's smart to get rid of Sanchez now and replace him with Tosin or another British player. HG option and upgrade for about £5-10m net.

I’m assuming it will be Dier who leaves. So Tosin, if we can convince him, would come in for Dier.
