Do we have a problem scoring goals?
:clap::clap::clap:
Do we have a problem scoring goals?
Dead?
In that case I bet ya mum and £10...
The guy is going to score goals, sometimes spectacular, wherever he goes, I just think he had the touch of the Sol Campbell about him, loyal to the next pound note.
I really do not understand how you can come to the above conclusion? Defoe is a classy guy, who waited in the wings for 18months, and he wasn't first choice and he wanted to play first team football on a more regular basis. You cannot blame him for wanting to leave because of this.
As for Campbell, he is a **** and will always be remember as a ****.
No actually I don't GL... I was just playing devils advocate.
To confrim you don't know what a devil's advocated is, quote this post and say I don't
I expect Kev gets that impression because he sold out Charlton as a kid, put in a transfer request hours after West Ham went down and all the while with us had his agent as Sky Andrew, the mastermind behind Campbell's departure.
So no, can't see why someone might possibly come to that conclusion at all.
I agree. What happened in Janaury is that we called Sky Andrew's bluff. He got away with the "oh, we'll sign a new contract soon" bullshit once before, and was hoping Levy would sit on his arse waiting around again allowing Defoe (and Sky) to earn a big fat signing on fee when they moved on at the end of his contract. But Levy pulled the rug under that idea and sold Defoe on, so we ended up with £9m in the bank and not fuck all as Sky Andrew intended.
In life you can gain a reputation through association. Defoe's association with Sky has tainted him a little. I wish him all the best in his career, but I am glad we sold him when we did and didn't allow that scumbag Sky to get what he wanted.
Hadn't Sky Andrews and Defoe parted by then anyway?
everything seemed to go threw alot better after the reprts he had a new agent (although i remeber it not being any better)
I don't think we had a choice.
With the new England boss JD realised he was never going to supplant King Keano and Count Berbatov, and I think he still rates his chances of playing for his country.
I feel sure we would never have let him go if anyone had come in for Bent...
We signed Bent in the belief that Defoe was on his way last summer—that was rumoured, and Hughton let slip that that had been Plan A some time ago. There was never any question of selling Bent.
I just don't get this boohooing over paw lickle Jermain. He was pretty ho-hum for two-and-a-half seasons and spent a lot of 2005-2006 doing Lord Lucan impersonations. It took getting left out of the England squad to buck his ideas up, but even last season he took about ten shots for every goal and blew a perfect chance to establish himself as first choice alongside Berbatov. Even after that we still had some idiots hoping Keane would pick up an injury so Defoe could get another chance. Pure genius.
Frankly, I don't believe any of this so-called commitment and loving it at Spurs. He saw us as a way to an England place.
