If I were DL (and thank goodness I am not) I would make the negotiations as complicated and protracted as possible. This could be assisted by considering various RM players in part exchange having conversations with them and their agents etc. with a view to running the time down. In this way he can have demonstrated to GB that he was willing but that "unfortunately" time ran out. He could then give GB an undertaking that he could move next season (a further excuse would be required for the Jan window being unsuitable) and even agree terms with RM for the move. A faint hope I know but, if it is accepted that he wants to move, at least we might keep him for the coming season and assist us into CL qualification.

Looking forward to Kaka's day. "Come to Madrid, you'll become the best in the world."
Kaka said his bit last week :D

I find it hard to believe that the Sun would know about Bale signing shirts for the players but that it wouldn't have leaked out through ITK or a random stranger.

I thought Marcelo was quite respectful too. Basically said "It's not for me to talk about who's coming or going - but if he signs he would be welcome"

Nothing much more he could have done, I guess...

Still bloody hate RM though. F**k off, Madrid.

In today's on-line edition Marca have 6 articles about Bale.
One starts with "Cuando se haga oficial el fichaje..." which means "when they make the signing official". Pretty arrogant but it seem more more likely they're right.

They've been saying it for weeks and months on end. You only have to look at how many fees and offers have been 'agreed' lately to know it's more than likely BS.

I'm resigned to him leaving, but until something official from Tottenham comes out, Bale is a Tottenham player.

Anybody could've rung up pretending to be someone to say that to get some quick cash. (y)

Hopefully that's exactly what he's doing but I don't think Bale would be happy about it if he actually wants to leave. It could disrupt the start of the season though so it would be nice if he signed the new deal.

Until anything official from our side comes out (I don't tend to believe anything from Madrid, wonder why?) Bale is still a Spurs player.

KEEP CALM AND BELIE..

AH FUCK IT, HE'S OFF!

Probably reading WAY too much into it but Bale is on the Spurs homepage again promoting the Espanyol game... Would seem a bit insensitive if he was leaving... right?

Bale signing shirts?

Cos that's what happens when a mate leaves a job, you turn in to a 12 year old fan and treat him like a god.

FFS.

For me the whole saga is ruining the anticipation of the new season.
All the conflicting stories, in my Express this morning it said Bale was ready to fly to Monaco but the club said there was no point, others have said he's injured. Just get it sorted so we can all mentally prepare for the new season.

It's the first time they've met a real professional footballer. He's a full international too, they'd be expected to be a bit starstruck.

In all seriousness though, if that doesn't show the depths of imagination that the papers are going to on this subject I don't know what does

As we have now signed Paulinho, Chadli and Soldado. could it just be that the, so called, reporters are just stoking the fires of the Bale transfer saga because they fear that Spurs will knock their club out of the top 4 this season and want him to go? :cautious:

i think we'll be fine if bale goes, would obviously love it if he stayed though

Maybe. Have to see who replaces Bale... adding goal threats all over the pitch makes the team more dangerous overall.

The WWF reference is funny.

It's also telling that the grass isn't always greener and the player leaving often looks back at what they left with envy in the end.

I think this really is the thing now; it's beginning to get extremely unfair on the fans and a little disrespectful to just have a total communication blackout at our end without any sort of message of status at all.

Beginning to leave a bit of a bad taste....
