Interview in the Standard, says a lot but refers to “this season” four times - he’s definitely off in the summer, as we have suspected.

There’s more at the link but I can’t paste the whole thing as I’m on my phone:

https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...am-star-denies-falling-out-with-a3698136.html

Speaking for the first time about being dropped, Rose said: “My reaction was I was fuming, I was angry. But understanding, at the same time. There has been no bust-up, there has been no argument. There has been no falling out. The manager explained he thought it’d be better for me to do a hard session on Saturday, which I did.

“I understand there have been a lot of reports but they are not welcomed and they are not true.

Asked whether he felt fit to play against the Gunners, Rose said: “I don’t know. Whatever fitness I have, I still feel I’m one of the best in the League, I believe in my ability.

“At Tottenham, you have to have an exceptional level of fitness. I’m not there yet because I’ve been out for a long time. I’m still catching up.

“I wasn’t happy [with being left out] but it’s gone now, we all have to move on. When I get the opportunity to play, like I did last night, I have to try to do as well as I can.”

Speculation persisted over the weekend that Rose could make a £40million move to Manchester United in the January transfer window but the left-back (left, in action last night) told Standard Sport: “I’ve said in most interviews I’ve done this season that I want to contribute to Tottenham winning something this season.

“Nothing has changed. Everyone just needs to understand that me and the manager want the same thing for this season: we want to win something.

“So I’m on the same page, I’m fully focused on playing as many games as I can for Tottenham, contributing to something beautiful, successful this season.

i see this has been glossed over a bit but wow, is this what we're going to get all THIS SEASON every time he doesn't start or get his own way, running off to the press at every opportunity? this thick idiot says he was fuming not to start and then a few lines later says he's behind the others in terms of fitness.

seriously sick of this guy.

Have to say it’s interesting watching his interviews. He seems to have no filter and just says whatever he is thinking. To say he was fuming is not terrible but is it really necessary to say that.

I'm glad he was fuming, it's the north London derby.
I would be super bitter to miss out on that one completly

I don't know, think there's a line somewhere between professionalism and just happy to collect wages , love the life, and go under the radar coasting .

Tottenham's Danny Rose was left "fuming" by his north London derby snub but insists he understood the decision and has not fallen out with Mauricio Pochettino.

Rose was not even named on the bench for Saturday's defeat to Arsenal as Pochettino felt he would be better off doing a fitness session at the club's training ground.

The move prompted renewed speculation surrounding the future of the defender, who had to apologise in August after suggesting he would be open to leaving Spurs.

However, speaking after Tottenham beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday, Rose sought to clarify his reaction to missing out against the Gunners.

"My reaction was I was fuming, I was angry, but understanding at the same time," Rose said.

"There's been no bust-up, there's been no argument, there's been no falling out. The manager just explained that he thought it'd be better for me to do a hard session on Saturday, which I did.

"I did that. I understand that there's been a lot of reports but it's not welcomed, and it's not true, and whether I'd been at the Emirates or not, I think everybody's losing sight that I couldn't have stopped the referee or linesman from making bad decisions that led to us conceding.

"Me and the manager have not fallen out, not had an argument. I was angry about not being involved in the squad, but at the same time, I understand and I respect his views."

Rose played 90 minutes for the first time since January against Dortmund after spending nine months out with a knee injury.

He has only started three games for Tottenham since his return but feels he is now ready for a run in the team.

"Whatever fitness I have, I still feel that I'm one of the best in the league, I don't care how fit I am, I believe in my ability," Rose said.

"At Tottenham, you have to have an exceptional level of fitness. I'm not there yet because I've been out for a long time. I'm still catching up. As I said, I respect the manager and his coaching staff's views.

"I wasn't happy but it's gone now, we all have to move on. When I get the opportunity to play, like I did tonight, I have to try and do as well as I can."

Rose insists he remains committed to Tottenham this season.

"Nothing's changed," Rose said. "Everyone just needs to understand that me and the manager want the same thing for this season - we want to win something. So I'm on the same page."

Rose has looked sharper with every appearance since his comeback and after a shaky start against Dortmund, he became a key attacking threat.

Goals from Son Heung-min and Harry Kane overturned Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's opener at the Westfalenstadion as Tottenham secured first place in Group H.

Asked how close he is to 100 per cent, Rose said: "I don't know. Before today I thought I was close and then first half I was horrendous, I thought I was getting hooked at half-time, and it gave me a bit of a reality check - maybe I'm not as close as I thought I was.

"In the second half I thought I did better, I contributed quite a lot in the second half. I just hope I can get many more minutes."

Rose added: "You can only get fit by playing games. There's only so many training sessions you can do.

"I don't think I'm far off but I hope I can play as many more games to help me get there as quickly as possible."

This comment and last game display made me little bit more confident about Dannys' future.

Cheers for posting that...it gives a much more detailed account of his interview...I thought he played well last night too, especially 2nd half.

Is the piece on Sky website from the same interview? If it is they conveniently edited it to exclude the positive bits...

But he didn't have an end product, and in our system that's massively important, which is why what you are arguing is spurious at best and plain wrong at worst.

So yes, Trippier has some limitations, but so did Walker. And we have had better results with Trippier than we did with Walker, and while that doesn't categorically prove anything about the two individually, what it does do, is not support your theory that Walker's flaws were better for us as a team than Trippier's are. The offensive dynamics of our team have improved and the defensive performance hasn't deteriorated at all.

Rose is good, so is Davies, but these players are better because of how they have been coached and the system we play. If Rose goes to ManU, is he going to be encouraged to spend half the game in the opponents half, looking like a marauding WB as he does now ? He will improve them because right now, they effectively haven't got a LB at all. But any half decent LB would improve them. Like Alonso, a player who couldn't make it at Sunderland, helped Chelsea win the league.

I think Rose, like Walker isn't the cleverest. Just like Walker, he's a willing runner up and down, but what he does when he gets there isn't actually very intelligent or composed most of the time, and I believe we can improve on that, and in Davies, I think we already have to a degree, again, without too much defensive compromise (most on here kept telling me Davies was better defensively - I'm not so sure myself) so it just shows it's possible. There are players out there who have pace and a bit more intelligence and composure, they jus need polishing. Look at Mendy who City bought, Monaco bought him for 10m and he is already better than Rose.

I'm not sure if you listen to any of the good football pods but some of the decent journos on there were saying exactly the same about walker, and even yesterday Marchoti and Laurens were saying similar about Rose. These aren't world class players. They are good, but not stellar payers impossible to replace, especially when you are getting 40-50m. We replaced Walker with an identical player, three years younger for half the price.
yes walker isnt the complete player, but he's head and shoulders better than trippier in 3 of 4 phases of the game, in possession, on the counter and defensively. End product is not the defining feature we need to have in a FB. It's the ability to get up and down the touch line at pace to create space for everybody else around them. Which probably created just as many high end scoring chances indirectly as Trippier did dirctly.

Against the majority of fodder teams the difference between Trippier and Walker wouldnt matter and against bus parkers Trippier's delivery is a good trait to switch things up. But against the big boys and teams in good form we need the athleticism to remain defesively solid while keeping the threat going forward.

I totally disagree with you about Rose, think he has a very good football brain, and that's clear from at least the two great chances he created for Eriksen last night, as well as his pressing to set up Kane's goal. He also makes a really good runs off the ball and has an end product. To go along with his raw ability. Lol Mendy was bought for 52m and he's played four games with just one assist, were City has had all the possession in the world of course he's going to look fantastic going forward when he hasnt really needed to defend. You're going to give Mendy credit, but not Walker, it's just hypocritical.

Finally of course Rose and Walker are replacable, but that doesnt mean the transition is going to be smooth, and when we are chasing the league that can be the difference in the end. Then when we sell them to our rivals it does massively improve them because both of them for the past 2 seasons were the best fullbacks in the league. We can agree to disagree, but I hope you can recognise that you arent 100% correct.

He shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the media.

He's acting like the Kevin Pietersen of football.

This guy needs to stop making it all about him. It's a team game and you know....maybe the manager respects meritocracy so will continue to give Ben Davies the nod or rotate so he gets equal playing time at least until his form decides otherwise. If it wasn't for meritocracy Kane wouldn't have got his platform to shine and even someone like Mason who managed to oust a Brazilian international despite only playing lower league football pre-Poch.

And I don't mean to be funny....Danny Rose is just a left back. This ego is something you'd expect from the star forward and even then it won't be welcome.

Arrogant twat how can he be fuming when Davies has been so good in his absence.

He honestly thinks he should just be walking back in, guy seems a grade A cock.

Shame as is probably our best left back still but he needs to shut up and play his way in rather than bitching as someone made the most of their opportunity whilst he was out injured for a long period.

I don't think he's saying he should've started ahead of Davies. More like angry at not being part of the squad

Trix alluded above he’d taken umbrage at being named on bench.

Fair dos if only complaining about not being in squad though I guess. He’s still a plonker though.

Fuck Rose. He's definitely gone at the end of the season. Everything from his pitiful apology to his most recent comments back that up. Good riddance imo after how he disrespected the club in the summer. It's no great loss considering how much Davies has improved.

I understand why he'd be fuming at not being part of the squad for the NOT but he has no right to fume or question the managers decision especially as he took the piss with those comments in the summer, really disappointed in him to be honest and this is a player I continually backed after getting pelters from the fans.

I'm just sick of hearing about Danny Rose, I'm tired of reading about Danny Rose, just get your fucking head down and let your football do the talking, it's not difficult if you shut it and play to the best of your ability you get in the England squad for the World Cup and get your move to Man Utd ffs.

Interview in the Standard, says a lot but refers to “this season” four times - he’s definitely off in the summer, as we have suspected.

There’s more at the link but I can’t paste the whole thing as I’m on my phone:

Yeah couldn’t be clearer. Gone. And frankly I’m sick of his bullshit so good riddance. It’s not all about you Danny

Apparently he was on the bench and didn’t like it. Either way I agree, I always defend him, adopted him on here but he just never shuts up about himself

Let’s go get Sessegnon and put this all behind us

He's gone in the summer.

It would be classic us to make a balls up of the Sessegnon transfer despite knowing for months we needed him though. With us I don't think it's simply a case of 'Let's get Sessegnon' unfortunately. Other clubs will be interested, without a doubt.

But he didn't question Poch decision about not being involved

"My reaction was I was fuming, I was angry, but understanding at the same time," Rose said.

"There's been no bust-up, there's been no argument, there's been no falling out. The manager just explained that he thought it'd be better for me to do a hard session on Saturday, which I did.

"Me and the manager have not fallen out, not had an argument. I was angry about not being involved in the squad, but at the same time, I understand and I respect his views."

IMO he said nothing wrong in this interview. To be honest I don't get it why people are so angry with Rose. Because he said some stupid comments in the summer? He apologised. Or because he's saying he's one of the best on his position? Hard to disagree. His not at his best yet but he knows that, he said that in this interview. Or because he said that he was fuming at not being involved for NLD? Just sign of ambition. He didn't say he should play, he understood Poch decision. He's getting better every game after injury and we all know that Rose in form is better than Davies in form so I'm excited that he's slowly getting to his top.
