They didn't even have a shot from 29th minute to 76th minute. They had 2 shots on target plus a penalty. And both their shots on target were long range curling (still good but not high chance) efforts
Sounds about right they weren't a threat.

Thought all of our returnees from the international tournaments looked really good. Sarr got a bit sloppy just before he got subbed but he had a very good game.

It’s because a lot of fans tend to worry the opponent is going to score every time they go forward and are frustrated every time we miss a chance. So they experience the match emotionally, rather than objectively, when they are watching their own team. And that effects how they remember the match too. But most people don’t experience the same emotions when watching neutral teams play so they are more objective.

The shit this lad is getting is fucking bizzarre.

Young player who's numbers are pretty decent

Sure he could be doing better but people calling him a 'nothing fooballer'....i mean WTF.

Some just dont have patience and thats the problem.

I think he'll be a star for us given time.
Agree mate, I’ve thought all season that he’s been better than Kulu at RW for example.

Johnson is still young and in his first season with us under Ange.

Plenty of talent and room to improve.

Time will tell but as you say people judging way too soon.

Also the recency bias of Brighton getting a foothold for the last 15-20 mins or so

Our play it out from the back no matter the situation or performance of the players 'philosophy' really needs a rethink.
It's fine as long as the options are there.
Earlier in in the season the men at the back had 3-4 options for passes, last few games they're lucky if they've got one.

That's due to a number of factors but mainly the dynamic movement and third man running all over the pitch seems to have nose dived. So the player at the back is having to take more risks on (or with) the ball to find a man's feet.

View from the south stand:
  • One of our worst team performances in ages, no energy at all
  • Movement was non-existent at times and gave us little option on the ball
  • VDV is class and saved us from a hammering
  • The whole team hates Werner. He had so much space and clearly the beating of his man. So many times the ball over the top pass was on to him and we didn’t do it. It was so obvious and so frustrating.
  • Worst game from Maddison in a Spurs shirt and almost as bad from Bentancur.
  • PEH came on and almost cost us several times
  • Johnson was poor/weak but took his chance well
  • Sonny was a different class and we immediately looked a better team with him on
  • Udogie was injured, hence the sub was changed last second (Skipp was coming on but swapped for Ben Davies)
  • Their time wasting was ridiculous and they got what they deserved from it

If people think Johnson was playing poorly fair enough but I don’t get this whole ‘he’s not trying thing’ point is people were laying into Johnson so those same people need to give credit where it’s due when he’s got in the position to score a last minute winner, tap-in or not.

Yeah of course. I’m one who criticised him but it was great positioning and he did the job. Others might not have had the pace to be in the position, so well done to him.

The criticism is more than fair IMO. It was a septic cameo until that point and his work rate and efforts to help team mates are extremely poor at times.

Being a bit less dramatic, they must be under instruction not to hit the ball over the top as it was on so many times and no one did it. I’m confident Werner would have at least had a couple of assists today if we’d played to his strengths.

Maybe I misunderstood it a bit.. I do agree that he often gets the ball in positions that are not his favourite ones.

I hope we /he can adjust and adapt. I think he has some better tools in his bag.

It’s been an issue since he arrived. I think Ange must insist on keeping the ball on the floor and as direct as possible. Sometimes it’s easier to go over the defender and into space though on occasion surely?

One sweep of Brennan's right foot was the difference between feeling pissed off all night and absolutely buzzing off my tits! Football eh? :)

Agree. Though it's not just tonight. Waking up on a Sunday and recalling the win through the haze, is equally good!

Just got home and wow! What a finish.
After a bad start where we let Brighton press and bully us leading to the penalty, I still don't think they'd have scored without it, we steadily built momentum and second half that increased so by the time of our first goal we really were the dominant side. I thought Kulusevski had their left hand side tied up so bad Mitoma was no threat at all.
I wouldn't have made the three substitutions at that point leaving us disjointed when Brighton were bound to come at us and that's how it turned out, they had their best chances after that. Thankfully, when we brought Hojbjerg on as it happens, we got back control and looked capable of getting a winner.
I was meant to slip away early but stayed right to the end and boy am I glad I did😊.
The winner was deserved, we got our just deserts in the end.
