But Pep also has a number of formations he uses; he regularly switches between 4 and 3 at the back for example.
Ange may do that in time.

For now, he needs to get players on the same wavelength.

Only once you get the fundamentals can you start changing things.

Thanks for saying this cause it once again proves my point about plan B.

Pep didn't need a plan B. City just got better at it.

We need another midfielder who can do what Maddison does and a WF who can beat their man and stretch the backline.

It's no surprise that with Maddison not being available or at his best, our chance creation has significantly dropped.

It is not a coincidence.

But having more options like that, which allow us to keep doing what we do, will soon see us creating again.
We're Spurs. We don't buy players we really need to fit a system - we buy potential and require a manager who's able to mould them into a team. That's why we need a plan A v1.1, v1.2 and so on - if not an outright plan B.
At Spurs flexibility is key. That's why Conte failed. But the question whether Ange does have the required nous and flexibility is at this point very much open to debate.

Have you missed that we are actually working on moulding the team to fit Ange's style. And everyone at the club is pulling in the same direction. Because of Ange ?

We haven't done that for ages... if ever. But it's not going to work perfectly from the start.

The game today just showed that our rhythm is a bit off and we still have a lot of work to do. And Ange still needs more players that fit his style.

O’Neill tactics worked a treat.

We had a good 10-15 min spell start of 2nd half otherwise we were pretty off it for most of the match and frankly they created by far the better chances and if not for Vic it could’ve been 1-3/4.

Today I felt we really lacked a real out and out striker and also a world class wide player.

Also sorry to criticise but the drop off in level with Davies and especially Royal in the inverted full back roles was absolutely huge, Emerson got caught on the ball in dangerous areas time and time again.

Maddison not back up to speed yet and also tactically I think they did a job on us as with their 5-4-1 low block we just passed it side to side and Richy even started to come deep at times which meant all the play was in front of them and their 3 CB’s had absolutely nothing to worry about. It’s in these types of matches where under Peak Poch, Walker and Rose really stretched teams and then Eriksen would drop into half spaces and play crosses to Kane and Dele, whereas under Ange we have Son and Kulu who mostly cut inside and Richy isn’t really a proper target man and drops deep a bit and Maddison wasn’t crossing from those half spaces and even if he wanted to he had no one to cross to.

We need better players signed especially in attack and back/up full back this summer but also at times it would be nice to see us play with 2 strikers and get some balls in the box as otherwise without better attacking played we will always struggle against a well organised low block if we play exactly how we played today.

Also i have to say our crowd need to do more, I was in the park lane and the atmosphere was so flat 🥱

You don't need a plan B.

You need to get better at what you do.

The greatest coaches don't abandon plan A at the first signs of trouble, they double down and work harder to overcome the obstacles.

Far too many pundits have thrown around this 'plan b' idea over the years and it often doesn't take long before "they should get back to what they were doing'.

Ten Hag is a fine example. He started with his plan A. Shat himself and slowly went to a plan B which really hasn't worked.

You can only go to Plan B when you have the fundamentals fully embedded
Spot on. If we were implementing plan A perfectly and still losing I’d be worried but the energy and connection just isn’t there for the pressing etc at the moment. That is quite worrying in itself as we shouldn’t be tired but if Ange does start trying to completely change the way we are playing then I would be a lot more worried.

With a weaker squad, mid-week ECL football and a mid season World Cup to contend with - well impressed. Interesting you use the word 'fraud' to describe a bloke who has won 5 titles with three teams in two of Europe's toughest leagues - what does that make Ange in your opinion?

We get it mate. Your a Conte fan and didn’t want him to leave. But it’s been 10 months now and you bringing him up every single post is beyond tedious.

Agreed. At this stage of the team’s development as much as I like Ben Davies, Destiny’s absence was telling and also no Porro. Overall a very flat performance and a result like this has been on the cards as there’s been a drop off with Ange’s style of play plus the opposition have effectively established a game plan that has worked. Noticed when Wolves didn’t have the ball they adopted a 5-4-1, felt like a 9-0-1 at times and then broke on the counter with a 4-3-3.

Also in the Park Lane: most definitely a collection of STH putting them on exchange which does break up the flow of a collective noise and also the sense of Deja vu with others. Felt that even the drum sounded a bit down in the dumps today.

Or we just need to have the patience for those young players and our manager to get it right. It worked for Poch when he had a young squad but took time for his game to come together. It only went wrong when we stopped signing young players to keep the squad growing. It didn't work with Conte because he doesn't develop youth and doesn't commit to long term projects.

We'll turn it around, but we must work on our defensive set up and get back to starting games faster.

Starting all flat just allows the opposition to settle into their game plan....basically we're allowing them to execute it.

Feels like the start of a familiar time in the season when multimillionaire players don't have the intensity needed to really press on and stay in touch with the top teams. They'll talk a good game afterwards, but the gap will widen to a large extent within weeks.

Hopefully Ange can stir them up and find more urgency again. But for now, we're easy enough to play against.

You know at the end of the day its about intensity, on and off the ball.

Raise the tempo, make something happen...dont wait for it to happen.

Pass and move quicker, one two touch, make more off the ball runs.

Press more effectively, get the triggers on point.

All these things were off today and it makes it much easier for the oppositiion.

Its Ange's responsibility to recognise and rectify it.

We use to see this way too much at home, over the years under various managers, and its rearing its ugly head again...a bit anyway.

I use to have a good record of calling a result at home based on the first 5/10 minutes of how we started the game, based on our intensity/tempo.

We still have to play Chelsea West Ham Newcastle Villa Liverpool away from home.

With City and Arsenal at home.

Today's result is a massive blow for our top 4 chances. Utd could be 3pts behind us tomorrow too.

I actually it doesn't matter who we play at home ot away. We can easily win them or lose them. Maybe those teams will attack more which might help us

Is your angle that these rich young men should do better and stay with the teams that on average have richer young men?
