Fuuuuucking hell.

Fallen apart, back to nowhere and condemned to mediocrity :D

Utter fucking nonsense*. And it takes some going to stand out in here today :D

*And the two agrees this steaming pile of excrement gathered is fucking worrying too.
If I could winner this 10x I would. Some people on here are acting like the hysterical teenagers who appear on AFTV.

I'm not convinced Hojbjerg can press effectively in this system and imo it only takes one player in midfield not to be able to do the job properly for things to start unravelling. The lack of mobility, not being able to nip in at speed and get away in transition causes problems. He is a great option off the bench to see out games but as a starter I'm not surprised Ange isn't the biggest fan.
Unfortunately, I think you're right. I try to defend Hojbjerg where I can because I appreciate what he brings to the squad. But the way we pressed today was the biggest cause of us falling deeper and deeper and eventually not being able to link the midfield to our front line.
I see on R/COYS Dier is the one taking the blame but I really think that's unfair

Hojbjerg is on a hiding to nothing in this side now unless he comes in as Bissouma or Sarr's replacement. No way should he be in there replacing Maddison because that just sets him up to fail. Seems so contrary to everything Ange has done since he arrived. It's not the pressing that's a problem, it's the safe passing and the inability to play on the half turn. For that reason, it's just odd that he didn't play Lo Celso - the most obvious like-for-like replacement - or move Kulusevski inside or some other approach to ensure we have a #6-#8-#10 combination in midfield that can use possession well.

This game was really boring, side-to-side passing with extra touches and extra passing that wasn't needed at all.

PEH does this thing where he runs in to a 50/50 challenge with his arms spread wide, not really over-committing himself and usually loses it, and it makes my shit itch Every. Single. Time.

He completely bottled one challenge today.

They wanted it more on tbe day

We need to spend on a striker, a proper number nine, a creative midfielder player and above all a central defender that can play Ange way. When everyone is fully fit, upfront is our weakest part of our side

Die returns; we lose…not a mystery!
It wasn’t Dier or the rest of the defense’s fault we lost today. We lost because we were pedestrian and lack luster in attack. After we scored we never looked like we would score a second.
Sorry but it’s an easy fallback to scapegoat Dier for todays loss.

Going to have to suck it up! I’m afraid certain fringe players can have a decent 88 mins but switch off for those 2 crucial ones.
It could be that lack of game time meant their legs had gone by the time the last 10 minutes rolled around.

Frustrating thing for me is we did a Conte today with only 3 attackers on the pitch. Nobody from behind was going to pick out a pass from central. I asked earlier who the playmaker was because nobody was leading the attack.

Shame really, I thought we would win this. I thought Dier was good today, but I just don't think Davies is good enough. Can't believe he got man of the match.
That’s because he probably was our best player over the 90 minutes

Ah well. Not to be for us today. We weren't good enough but we can't be good every week.

We all knew the injuries to VDV and Madders would hurt.

Impressed with Johnson, Deki, Porro and Davies. GLC actually did well when he came on too. Would like the midfield to be Bentancur, Sarr and GLC next game.
Agree except still finding it very frustrating Kulusevski’s aversion to putting a cross in with his right foot. There was a glorious opportunity to do that in, I think, around the 70th minute mark when Son and Johnson(?) in the 6 yard box. Attack wise he’s often so one dimensional.

It wasn’t a bad defense that lost the game. It was a very leggy, lethargic, and cautious midfield and attack. That’s where the game was effectively lost. We stopped creating chances pretty much right after we scored. Then sat back. It was just like a Conte game.

Biss only started playing after he got his yellow, guys been a passenger since his ban.

PEH alongside him was also another display showing all the reasons this was his first start of the season.

Sarr was isolated and basically the sum of the part of the midfield just unable to do anything to cover the whole space on his own.

Looked better when bents and gio came in. but still you could see what was going to happen with a back line that was unable to hold a straight line....

That was an odd thing. Low energy levels it seemed, tho Ange went out of his way to praise team effort.
I expect he has some serious things to say to the team behind closed doors. It wasn't what we think of as an Ange type performance.

We played Monday night a full on London derby with less than 11 players for 80 mins.

We was always going to look tired add in certain players starting then was never going to be a good game to watch

I think you may need to look at the goals again to see Dier's culpability for the first goal followed by him just watching Lemina for the second.

I knew this was a Conte-esque game because it's the first one this season where I was constantly shouting swear words at the TV at the top of my voice. We were so relentlessly negative today, passing the ball constantly towards our weakest area rather than keeping it in their half. Ange now at least has two weeks to coach some of the guys into what he needs from them for the Villa game. I hope and believe he will pick a better balanced team and we will function much better.

Lots of criticism of Dies and a few others....not sure how Son escapes criticism, sometimes as a captain you need to lead by example, his ball control was a bit off as well IMHO

It's the whirlwind of expectation with us punctured by Chelsea who not only wrecked us on Monday but then we imploded to wreck ourselves as well.

What was disappointing today was all of us knew with that team it was always going to be tricky and the high line was just never going to work with that defence. Porro is the only one who knows it and can't do that on his own. When tried from that we were exposed down the wings so many times. Royal my god just a liability waiting to happen. Without Maddison I would have turned to Le Celso or Bentancur just for a creative purpose instead none at all or it was to late.

Ange needs to be so much braver as it reaked of management decisions before and what's coming is a worry.
Not sure the high line was a factor.
