Story is probably rubbish but this guy is a quality CF. 20 mil is a lot but he is big, quick and skilled. Did say similar to Benteke, not as big but sees the game better. The Porto team was fantastic to watch in CL this year
A big gamble nonetheless. If he didn't pan out in his first season, his resale value will be cut by 60%. May just be too much of a gamble for us.

20 million for a 28 year old, i mean didn't Levy fall for that one two seasons ago with Soldado?

Funny really cause he could have signed Shane long and saved a packed may only be a 12-15 goal striker but that would be an additional 12 goals a season

There's just no pleasing some people. If a player was perfect (ability + peak age) + available for the ideal price, he wouldn't be signing for spurs. end of.

No chance that Levy would splash £20m for a guy unproven in any of Europe's top leagues (let alone PL) who'll be 29 before Christmas. Especially given that it's in a position where we already have someone better.

Unless it's for someone who is world class beyond doubt, we simply can't afford to spend £20m on a player whose value will only go down from the moment he signs for us.

20m striker accepts spurs move.
Fully expected to fly over, pass medical and sign for Chelsea 2hrs later.
Until theres a photo of him wearing a spurs shirt with Pochs arm around him I don't give a shit.
And then all the ones who were calling him Soldado mk2 will abuse Levy for not tying down the deal.

"ACCEPTS" sounds like he had a choice of Soggy Mushrooms or Out of date Black Pudding for his Full English and he accepted the Mushrooms. I reckon he'll just push them round the plate a bit before the waitress comes along and removes his plate

Shane Long has never hit double figures in the Prem. He currently has 5 is around 31.

I understand the scepticism, but he is a brilliant player.

Costa has scored in nearly every Chelsea PL game he's played in, but I get the feeling some of us would still complain and moan about him if we would have been signing him last summer (personality aside).

Fair point but when ever he has played us he has posed problems, I like Robbie but he has no impact of the bench. He was a lot of money unfortunately it has not worked out for him.

Definitely a good player, but not a goalscorer.

Bet you that if he had signed for us, his goals would have dried out.:)

Probably. I'm waiting for Soldado to suddenly start playing like Messi if he leaves us.

If we get him it means the top four did not want or rate him. We will only get him if it's a straight fight between us and Stoke!
