Anyone else see similarities between him and Adebayor?

-both were ostracized by controversial Spurs managers (Capoue by Sherwood, Ade by the Ginger Genius)
-both were forced to sit in favor of lesser players (Capoue behind Bentaleb, Ade behind Soldado)
-both are hot-tempered on the pitch (Capoue led the French league in Yellows Cards, Ade at times gets into it w/opposing players and occasionally even fans)
-both are volatile off the pitch (last season Capoue called out Sherwood and Ade is- well- Ade)
-both are lightning rod players; the two seem to garner either admiration or scorn from fans (Ade exponentially more so than Capoue, but Caps does seem to split opinion as well)
-both have unGodly talent and both can be unstoppable when they want to be
-both are quick but neither are fast; the two of them are athletic (when you don't expect it) and un-athletic (when you do)
-both hold our fate in their respective hands (imo)

Ade gets a ton of stick but I think he's the key to our season up front- and the same goes for Capoue in the middle of the park. Early days I know- but I have a feeling that Poch has given these guys a clean slate, offering both a chance to shine. Ade's been done to death- views on him are well known- but what's the consensus on Capoue? Is this the guy to take over the DCM position and make it his? Is he a Sandro-type? Or better? Or worse?

In my opinion they are two different people and two different footballers. For every similar comparison you made I probably could make two dissimilar ones. However I do see Capoue as integral to Spurs Season.

They are both black, they are similar in that way.
I haven't seen any evidence that Capoue is unstoppable? where did you get that from? Adebayor is very good on his day I don't doubt his ability but the guy is too much trouble he should really be gone but we can't get a player with his ability, that's why he is still here.

I like Capoue, he can pass better than Sandro I wasn't happy that Sherwood was going to get rid of him and bring back Livermore.

The similarities go on

Both speak French
Both are right-handed
Both have African ancestry
Both were born in the 1980s
Both are over 6 foot tall
Both have a thread on SC
Both are devout Satanists
Both like to wear shoes
Both have only one head

* One of the above statements may not be wholly true :cautious:.

Wow- tough crowd.

Both are highly talented (yet unpredictable) footballers, and each has had a major, public disagreement with a Tottenham manager- and as a result been inside his doghouse- inside of the last year, something which cannot be said about any of our other players.

Also Benny & Sandro, possibly Holtby and there may be plenty of others that were less public.
Frankly, a lot of the time we don't really know what goes on inside the club. Generally it's just rumour and conjecture.

I've never doubted how hard Capoue works. When he's played, he's always been just about everywhere trying to break up play.

As much as I disagree with nearly all of them, I do like how you actually put some effort into your rants, unlike other people (I have myself TBF) who just string a number of rude words together :)

Haha thanks (I think).

Too bad pretty much everyone hates the things I write. I'm starting to doubt my sanity.

How can you disagree? Most of them are fact aren't they?

Odd thread but I'll give my opinion on the last part regarding Capoue and Sandro. I think Capoue has less weaknesses and a more rounded overall game than Sandro. He passes better, more comfortable on the ball and is fitter than Sandro. Sandro has better strengths and worse weaknesses, his game is more polarizing. Capoue is definitely a more 'complete' footballer, and that seems to be something we've developed throughout the squad whether it is by design or luck.

We seem to have more players who don't have the glaring deficiencies in their games, but maybe also don't have the capability of enforcing their biggest strengths onto a game either. It's made it easier to interchange players and helps our depth but I think it has also been a factor in our matches becoming a bit more labored, methodical and slightly robotic. We now have defenders who can pass, ball winners who pass, nobody who is fast but nobody who is painfully slow, nobody who is bad in the air, but nobody who is dominant in the air, all our forwards can shoot OK but aren't going to score screamers but it is fine because they track back well.

Spurs love a 'flawed genius' and the lack of that type of player is really what we are missing from this squad. If we were going to go out and buy more players i'd much rather we sign a super creative midfield dynamo who is a liability defensively than another midfield all-rounder. Or a guy up front who is lightning quick but not great first touch (or vice versa) than an all-round forward who doesn't do anything badly.
