Eriksen is sick so hopefully not serious, but serious enough to prevent a Wednesday night return to the squad! ?

Right I know I always want to beat Arsenal and Chelsea each season but my main focus is beating Utd.

We massively underperformed against them last season. Especially considering how terrible they have been. This, and the home game later on in the season, are the two matches I badly want to win.

For me:

———————Lloris
——Romero—Dier—Davies
Doherty-Bent—Biss—Hojb—Sess
—————Kane——Son

I think Davies/Lenglet and Sess/Perisic the only tricky calls there, to be honest.

I think we need the midfield three as their system would boss our two. At the same time, they look vulnerable at the back and a front three could really find some joy with balls down the channels like Newcastle did in the early part of today's game.

My one concern would be Doherty vs Sancho. I think there might be some issues there with Sancho beating him for pace. At the same time, without Emerson it would be a bit of a baptism of fire to throw Spence in. Then again, can Doherty go another full 90 after completing one just three days before?

I think the 3-5-2 will give us a better chance.

We need to keep that crowd quiet for as long as we can.

They're still a team of individuals imo but they're a talented bunch of individuals mainly, and that can still win you plenty of games.

We must not shit ourselves and hand It to them.

Hopefully we've learned from the second half at the Emirates.

This is where we want a solid performance from Lloris, no panicy stuff.

When he's solid our whole back line is normally.

Hugo is exceptional, but these big away games we need him at his best.

The problem with starting in a 352 - there is no logical time to want to switch to a 343.

If you are winning (a good thing obviously) Conte will want to stay tight defensively. And, if you are tied - Conte will still prefer to err on the side of defensive solidarity - over an attacking option that opens up the defense.

The only time to switch is if you are losing - which just means the 352 was not the best formation from the start.

On the contrary - starting in the 343, provides opportunities to switch to a 352, whether Spurs are winning, tied, or even losing.

A lot is going to depend on Kulusevski's fitness. If he can go - I think we start in a 343, and shift to a 352 if we need/want to change things.

That back 4 would get ravaged, the likes of Dier etc completely suit a back 3 and we have wing backs not full backs aside from Emerson who is being converted from a RB to a RWB.
Hence why I said back four was a little suspect…

Shame as midfield and attack would be awesome in that system, but if we have a back four in defence they’d be quite fragile with current personel.

But Bentancur and PEH would be better with Bissouma alongside them and also Kulusevski is too classy not to start and is best on right side of attack - although could play at right wing back, which is a little bit of a shame as restricts him a little…

It isn’t going to happen anyways, as aside from brief spell when first took over at Chelsea I think a Conte has only ever used a back three.

Got you and then yea completely agree the midfield 3 and front 3 would both be top top drawer for sure mate

Read a recap of Alasdair Gold's lastest video and it said he said that Kulusevski is definitely out for Manchester United because he got a knock that delayed his recovery.

Real shame that. Oh well.

Team sorts of picks itself at the moment without him and Richi. Only questions are:
Davies or Lenglet - I'd go for the latter personally
Perisic or Sess - I'm pretty relaxed either way, both have their merits

Correct me if I'm wrong but so far we've won all of the fixtures that we won last season, turned defeats at Stamford Bridge and the London Stadium into draws and had our usual defeat at the Emirates.

This one we lost last season, so if we've actually made any progress and not just keeping par for the course then we have to take something from this game.

They are not playing particularly well at the moment but I've lost count of the number of times Man Utd have turned around a poor run of form by raising their game to beat us over the years - so I won't believe that this one is anything other than dropped points and a meltdown amongst our fanbase until I see it with my own eyes.

Team pretty much picks itself in a 3-5-2. Likely going to need Gil or Lucas to make an impression as impact subs. Lucas has form here at least

We were beaten at home by Southampton and Wolves last season, so that's another 6 points up.

Doesn’t Sancho play on the right, so he’d be up against Perisic/Sess?

We really should have won this game last season but for Ronaldo.

I think Sess plays for his pace v Antony.

I hope Eriksen is still out too for them. They desperately missed him yesterday.

Lloris
Romero Dier Lenglet
Bissouma
Doc PEH Bentancur Sess
Kane Son
Won't be surprised to see Perisic start here though and Sess v Newcastle.
