Basically, the International Olympic Committee and the International Ice Hockey Federation has allowed China to bend the eligibility requirements and buy a team.

Jake Chelios Is American, Greek, Scottish, German and Irish. He’s Playing for the Chinese Hockey Team.

The son of NHL legend Chris Chelios is going by his Olympic name Jieke Kailaosi at the Beijing Games.

They are crap at the moment, but unless the eligibility requirements are changed, there's really nothing to prevent China from buying a squad of NHL players. A fair portion of the Chinese squad don't have Chinese relatives, nor have they lived in China for longer than a year.

I'm not too worried about it. China needed to produce a squad for the Olympics since the host nation gets an auto bid.

They haven't tried to buy a football team like Qatar has.

Its our shit climate that means we don't have proper winter conditions. If they had events in bog snorkling and avoiding the backwash from passing traffic, we'd ace it.

We used to be alright at stuff like Bobsled, because our teams were always RAF lads stationed in Garmisch, and trained with the Germans. Now we've pulled up all our bridges we're shite.
