Somebody has mentioned before, but I absolutely hated that we played on Tuesday then Friday night when games returned after IB, then that following week we played on Tuesday again, then Saturday first game on lunchtime. Wtf shit arrangement.

I enjoy listening to The Fighting Cock podcast. A listener asked them if they would accept second in the Premier League and winning the FA Cup this season....

...the kicker is that Arsenal win the Premier League. They were all saying "No". What do you guys think?

No please. Immediately being 2nd after they won the league - we will be trampled on by the scum for eternity till the end of time. Below them in any other positions are fine for me. If they won it, I rather we take 3rd. Actually being 2nd for me is the worse feeling ever in a league standing.

Coming second to arsenal and winning the cup in a season that they won the title would completely diminish what we had achieved.
I'd rather finish 5th ahead of arsenal and win nothing rather than finish 2nd behind them with a cup

To clarify we actually play Monday (Fulham) and then Friday (Palace) then Monday again (Chelsea) then Saturday 12.30pm (Wolves) this time around.

Honest opinion - yeah, I would take that.

I wouldn't be bothered about Arsenal's success, as long as Spurs had some success on their own. I could ignore that lot, and be happy with an FA Cup win and 2nd in the league in Ange's first year. That would be a cracking season.

Sometimes its better to focus on our own happiness, and not worry about others.

who were the 2? 👀
I would instinctively have thought it would be typical us except that we have never had this many points before at this stage since three points for a win. I'm leaning towards Leicester being one of them if not both, they dropped off horribly twice after being in the top four all season.

I agree, because we would still be able to say this was only Ange's first season at the helm and who knows how well we could do in the following season.

Yeah, it's ridiculous to say you'd turn the FA Cup down because of the Scum winning the league. We can currently only win two comps this season, and if you offered me one now I'd take it.

Top 4 and winning the FA Cup should be our priority.

We can then use that as a platform to push on next season with some more additions to the squad next summer.

Coming off the back of an international break, I actually see this as a good thing. We get two extra days preparation, and the likes of Son, Romero etc who are travelling halfway across the world get that extra recovery time. I’m sure we can cope with a Monday - Friday schedule too.

Arsenal Winning the league in 1991 did nothing to spoil the enjoyment of winning the FA cup.

BBC article which shows how no Europe can help our league position.

It also looks at the form of all the clubs by comparing expected goal difference with actual goal difference.

We're in an EVEN BETTER position than those others in that being out of league Cup in round 2 means we have no mid-week games ALL YEAR (other than re-arranged league game if we go deep in FA Cup) so if we can keep our 'core' 15 players fit we could finish really strongly. ACN and Asian Cup are probably the only caveats to us having better fitness levels than all of our rivals in the New Year.

We still need two quality additions in Jan if we're well placed. A CB with similar characteristics to our starters and either another 6 or a LW.

This table is excellent in giving a points breakdown for all our PL seasons. Can easily see we only need 1 point to equal our best ever start after 9 games, and 3 points in two to equal after 10 games.

One season that is a bit forgotten for me, is the 11/12 season (the year were 4th wasn't enough for CL). We've started brilliantly this season, but still would need 3 wins and 2 draws in our next five to equal the first 13 games of that season.

I'll put it down to the inexperience of youth... but you might be interested to learn that there was top flight football before the Premier League.
It was called the First Division and in the 1960-61 season we won our first 11 games, drew the 12th, and then won the next 3.
That record opening run of wins stands to this day.

Thanks for the passing down wisdom to the younger fans but I did read your earlier post, it was conveniently just below the post I quoted.

I thought the PL breakdown was useful in terms of comparing but if you somehow can find me something similar stretching to 60/61 then let me know 👍
