Not sure I understand the negativity. Our next two games, Wolves away and Villa at home are both very winable even with the injuries and suspensions. Also we have the international break so post that who knows what the injury situation is for us and others.

I've seen nothing in the other teams that frightens me that we can't get top 4 or more. So yes, we may have a shaky 4 or 5 games but every team will (maybe bar Man City, but they have lost twice already).

I'm not throwing in the towel yet.

If we can get something from Wolves and Villa, we'll have put ourselves in a fantastic position to weather out some potential losses until suspensions and injuries start to sort themselves out.

Honestly, I'll be low key glad the fuss about top of the league will likely recede now.
Yeah, 4 points for those two would be a god send. City away is a write off anyway.

Seems like the English teams are largely crapping the bed in Europe. I wonder if that 5th spot is still likely to get UCL.

Still likely I'd imagine. Key will Newcastle and Utd finishing 3rd if they miss out on qualification. That puts them in the Europa in which they'll want to go deep. Europa gets the same coeffecient points as CL from what I can remember (hence why Arsenal were not in a lower pot like Newcastle).

Could end up with Liverpool, Brighton, West Ham, Utd and Newcastle in the Europa. High chance of a winner and 2-3 semi finalists from that lot. Plus Villa in the Conference.

In a weird way the Europa will likely hold the key to us getting that extra CL place. Plus City being likely CL winners again.

One of the more odd things this season is that everytime we've dropped points, it has come from misfortune or where penalties/red cards have had a big impact on the game.

Brentford - Goals conceded came from an own goal and a pen.

Fulham - Goal conceded came from an own goal. Lost the tie on pens.

Arsenal - Goals conceded came from an own goal and a pen.

Chelsea - First goal from a pen and then we conceded three goals with 9 men.

In other words, we've only dropped points where we've either been quite unlucky in big moments or where a lack of discipline/concentration has cost us.

We clearly have a tough period ahead of us with injuries and suspensions, but I take encouragement that things have really gone against us in the games we haven't come away with three points.

You know what I am hoping for freak snow and ice during December. A few games called off

Rescheduling the fixtures no big deal for us, but would be a headache for our rivals in European competitions. Perfect!

Today is a big day from a season point of view.

So, will be 10Dec , Spurs vs Newcastle.

Newcastle injury list now growing bigger & bigger. Dan Burn out for 2 months. Matt Target is out for 3 months. Jacob Murphy out for 3 months. Plus they already lost Barnes, Elliot Anderson to long term injuries + Tonali suspended.
Isak & Botman possibly fit by our fixture.

Between now & our fixture, they face Dortmund, Bournemouth, Chelsea, PSG, United, Everton.

Overall, it looks like we will face a weakened Newcastle, which can only be good.
just tell them well play 5 a side then

VdV, Richarlison and Maddison all crocked for the foreseeable. We’ve lost £140m of talent to long-term injuries in one game week. The international break unfortunately means our remaining top players are going to be at risk of more injuries and Ange won’t have any time with them to work on a solution for how we play without Maddison with so few alternatives available.

Fuck!

Maddison’s likely long lay off now, only reaffirms my concern that, CL places will be a real struggle, along with our other injuries/suspensions.

Yeah, I've got faith in Ange to get a few players we don't currently rate playing well, but this is gonna be a struggle now.

On the one hand we're completely up the creek and will be lucky to still be anywhere near the sharp end of the table by the new year, but on the other Ange relies less on individual players and more on his system so it's still going to be fun.

The good thing is we agreed , mostly, that this season isn’t about where we finish but how much we can transform the club and the team in one year.

Injuries won’t affect that and if anything will reinforce it.

Obviously I don’t want injuries and I’d love us to finish top of the league or failing that top 4, but the fact that we are even talking like this is a sign that we’re realistically on course for something far more substantial than where we finish this year.

We really should be keeping pace with the likes of Villa/Newcastle, if we want to make the Top 5.

Even with these key injuries, you wouldn’t say their squads are significantly better.
