Still very confident. Poor results last night but its early days. Deep (title winning potentially) runs from City, Liverpool and Villa will see 5th spot for England. Be nice for the German teams to crash out early though so we dont have any squeaky bum time come May

Agree, it’s fine for fans to be interested in it. But I wouldn’t want the players to be treating it as a target based on the likelihood of 5th being sufficient for a Champions League spot.
I also really want us to finish 4th (or higher), regardless. It’s not all about finishing in the Champions League places, (especially since we’re a massive disappointment in Europe), we also want to finish as high as possible.

I think worry about it nearer May for the fans too. It's too complicated and there are far too many variables to factor in between now and the end of the season. All I see is if x, y and z win their games and a, b, c lose theirs etc. At least it's too much for me to comprehend at the moment, so I will look at it come the end of the season if 5th is where we look likely to be.

Some people on here were talking about 5th being a CL place as if it was a foregone conclusion before the start of the season. I can imagine it's them who are getting a bit worked up about it now realising that as the games go by it's looking less likely.

I just think aim to finish 4th, if we finish 5th then we look at the coefficients etc and see where it takes us. If it is to be Europa then so be it, I still want us to try and win it.

All reminds me too much of the days when we’d be hoping we got into the intertoto cup on the basis of the FairPlay award.
We should be aiming for fourth. Not worrying about other clubs doing us a favour so we can get in if we manage 5th.

As a club we will of course be aiming to finish as high as possible, doesn't mean those looking at how it lies for the potential 5th spot are resigned to that being our fate.
A good person to follow is Dale Johnson who writes for ESPN
Potentially but if they are in a final against German teams then no.
