4th still in ours hands. Reckon we'll get 5th though. Hopefully that's enough for CL.

Aston Villa drew with west ham the same as us right? They're a tough team to play. I really don't get the concern with the result/performance yesterday.

We were excellent for the first 30-35 minutes yesterday and still dominated most of the second half. Moyes is a very experienced manager. With the way West Ham got mugged off by Newcastle in their fixture before there was no way he was gonna let them concede a lot of goals again. They are team totally in his image and one of the hardest teams in the league to beat at their place - especially when they are in full bus parking mode.

A point is decent whichever way you slice it imo.

There seems to be a belief that we should beat literally every team who isn’t Man C, Arsenal or Liverpool. Home and away. And we should beat them comprehensively and in style.

It’s funny because when I was growing up as Spurs fan, a draw away from home was usually seen as a decent result. Even for the top teams a draw away was seen as a decent result. These days we are usually disappointed with a draw.

For me, if you are playing a seventh placed West Ham away from home and you know they are always up for this match, then a draw is a decent result. I think the last time we won away at West Ham was four and a half years ago.

I think we will most likely need one of West Ham or Arsenal to win their respective ties, otherwise it's going to be very tight.

I guess if Bayern and Leverkusen win their respective cups, we’d need City and Liverpool to get to their respective finals, then we’d just need Villa to probably get through one more round to the semi finals and that should probably be enough.

Edit: Actually if Bayern win they would be knocking out City in the semi finals so we’d need Villa to get through to the final (and Atletico to knock out Dortmund in the quarters)

I think it's still too early with too many teams still involved to be making calls about 5th being certain if X beats Y, etc. Best summary is still that it's 71% likely England, 29% Germany, we probably don't want Arsenal and West Ham to both lose, but we don't need to hope for Arsenal to win the whole tournament or anything silly either.

If you combine that with us basically being a 50/50 shot between 4th and 5th, we have around an 85% chance of being in the Champions League next season, and 15% chance of Europa. So a very good position, not quite signed, sealed and delivered yet, but could be over the next couple of weeks depending on what happens in Europe.

If Arse. and the Hammers get knocked out we won’t necessarily lose too much if each team wins one game then the Germans will just be two pts ahead as they get a pt for going through. It’s Villa and Liverpool we need to get plenty of points, that would cancel the German gain and put us ahead in second place.
Sadly I cannot see Bayern, in their current form, getting anything. It’s all down to Harry. Dare say he would thoroughly enjoy sticking it up them at the Emirates.
Nit forgetting City who could well put Madrid out. Athletico will put Dortmund out , no bother.

Good result for us today, especially if we can win tomorrow
Big if with us. We should be able to put Forest to the sword, but we need to be prepared for the fact they‘ll put men behind the ball. It’s going to be frustrating and people will need to be patient.

We definitely need to win tomorrow, we also could do with a win at st james park

Was just looking at villas run in for their next/ last 6 ...its pretty horrific.
Home to Bournemouth Chelsea and Liverpool and they are away next to Arsenal Brighton and Palace i think they may struggle to get more than 9 points out of that lot........

did you look at some of our remaining fixtures - Arse, Pool, City, Chelsea?😩

plus 2 teams who may already be relegated and playing with freedom 😁

I have to admit that I'm surprised in that people seem to speak like we have a relatively easy run in or something. If Villa's is horrific then what the hell is ours?

Really need to win tomorrow, or we put pressure on ourselves to have to get more from the tougher games. Villa do seem more susceptible to dropping points where they shouldn't, so we have to hope that continues too. We could really do with at least a couple of big performances from Newcastle away, City at home, Arsenal at home and Chelsea away.

If we win tomorrow and win at Newcastle, we put ourselves in a fantastic position to push on, whilst ticking off one of the nasty fixtures. Need to start rising to the occasion when the odds are a bit against us again though, as we failed to do so away to Fulham and West Ham. This is the only thing that worries me for games like Newcastle and Chelsea away, do we have that authority about us to go to these grounds and really show that we are better. I thought we did again after the Villa match, but the next two away games maybe showed otherwise.

Whilst you are right to point out our fixtures.

I don't think you can really say Sheff Utd and Burnley will be playing with freedom.

The reason they are going down isn't cause they feel pressure, it's cause they are genuinely 2 of the worst PL teams we've ever had.

We smashed Leeds last season despite them fighting to stay up and us being 'a total mess" that's because we are just much much better than these teams

What do we think ?
3 wins do we think for 5th ?
5 wins for 4th maybe 4 and a draw ?
3 wins would need utd to get 6 wins and a draw from 8 games to overtake us with goal difference. They've got 15 wins all season. Would need to be a hell of a collapse from us plus near title winning form from them
