With all the speculation in recent days (or is that months?!) as to the comings and goings I was wondering about the 25 man squad limit and number of home grown players that we have (especially with all the 'outs' being English and the 'ins' being foreign. I looked for a thread on here but couldn't find one so have this evening done a bit of research and my understanding is as follows (the rules for Europa are slightly different and I haven't looked those up).
Clubs can name 25 players born before 1 January 1991 (so 21 at 1 Jan 2012) in their squads. A maximum of 17 of these players may be foreign i.e at least 8 must be home grown.

Our squad as at today would be

A.. Home Grown players
1. Rose
2. Lennon
3. Parker
4. Bale
5. Naughton
6. Defoe
7. Dawson
8. Walker
9. Livermore
10. Huddlestone
11. Jenas
12. Sigurdsson (counts as he spent 3 years at Reading before he was 21)

B. Non Home Grown players
13. Gomes
14. Kaboul
15. Vertonghen
16. VDV
17. Gallas
18. GDS
19. Cudicini
20. Friedel
21. Ade
22. Falque
23. Sandro
24. BAE
25. Dembele

At the moment that leaves Bentley out of the 25 man squad. Hopefully Jenas and Huddlestone will move on (Thudd matbe only on loan) and it seems as if VDV may go as well so we can fit in 3 replacements but the home grown will go down to 10, and if Dawson were to go as well we'd be down to 9, only 1 (Defoe?) above the minimum. Then there's Rose out as well!

I can't guarantee I've got the rules correct (I took them off other clubs' boards rather than reading the PL rules!) but would be interested to know if I have got anything wrong.

Thought Spurs Chat was best place for this rather than transfer forum but not sure anybody's reading anything other than the transfer stuff!
