No way will Keane let Jones go—he's the only striker of the bunch that came up from the Championship last summer that looks capable of making it. Carragher reckons he's the hardest Premiership striker to deal with in the air, and although Carragher's a bit of a knob I'd take his opinion on that pretty seriously. Considering he's had Adebayor to cope with, that's high praise. Given the current crazy prices, you'd be looking at £10m starters.
In three seasons we've had to call on the services of our fourth striker just the once—when Barney had to be roped in at the end of 2005-2006. People are talking about a worst-case scenario situation that is unlikely to arise in reality, and we have two strikers (assuming Berbatov doesn't fuck off) who are more than capable of playing the lone role up front if need be.
A goalscoring winger, please. Another Cliff Jones on the left would be nice.
Have you seen mifsud play?
