Friday marks five years since the world lost a true legend... Bill Nicholson.

It deserves a thread and let's hope we beat Stoke in his honour.

He will always be with us, he is the glue that keeps us together, the force that drives us on, the conscience that makes us strive to do things the right way, the foundations on which our great club was built upon.

Never loved a man I'd never met before as much as Sir Bill. I hope you are looking down upon us with fondness.

my one regret as a Spurs fan is that i never had the fortune to watch one of his sides in action.

Even non-spurs fans of a certain age that i've spoken to say that the double winning side of 60/61 was some team to watch. No higher praise imo.

Thanks for the legacy, Sir Bill

Had the honour of meeting the man, amazing to be in the presence of such a Legend. He still looked round at everybody as he genuinely didn't know what all the fuss was about. The whole mourning of famous people is done to death in this country but that was the only time in my life I felt moved to do so, visiting WHL to lay a shirt in remembrance and sign the book of condolence. RIP Sir Bill.

Sir Bill should be the benchmark for all current and future Tottenham managers to aspire to be.

At least the current boss knows his history, as he mentioned when he arrived at Spurs, something along the lines of, he used to train or be around Sir Bills team in the '60s, so he know the tradition, he knows how the fans like Tottenham to play.

If Harry can acheive a quarter of what Sir Bill acheived, then he will have done a fantastic job.

It was a cold day the day he died, but his legend forever lives on.

RIP, Sir Bill

You're right Matty, October 23rd on average has a 12 degrees max temp, however in 2004, the day was colder on average, measured at a 10.9 degree c.

Is Darky still alive, if so it would be nice to ask her along to the Stoke game as a guest of honour and have a minutes applause.
