Guyssss, I need your help! I wasn't sure where to include this, but I had a uni project where I had to create a bank note, obviously I created a Spurs one and included Bill Nicholson as the face of the bank note... I need to have considered other people, and because I'm only young compared to the majority of you so my only 'memories' of great Spurs players stretch to Modric, Bale VdV, so my Q to you lot, which other 8 legends would you consider? Thank you

Not sure I would put Chiv in there.

I actually used to work for Chivers in the late nineties at his hotel/pub in Brookmans Park. A really nice guy and he used to have Spurs Golf day events in the conference room. Whenever Ossie was there he seem to be hammered on Port.

Lol... sorry, I came late to the football party (11yrs old) and only due to England during the 1990 world cup, my idol of that team was Gary Lineker who at the time played for...

I could add Gazza, but it was Gary who made me want to score goals in the back garden etc... and of course for years I assumed he was a Tottenham legend (I was living in Germany and there was no Sky or Internet in them days). So, even though he probably wouldn't qualify on most people's lists, I am hereby standing in as the Gary Lineker fan club, with Teddy Sheringham the only striker to make me swoon after (until Berbatov).

.

Chivers was unlucky with injurys he picked up a bad knee injury and that finished him really, but there was a spell for us ( about 18 months ) when he was immense and was the best around.

After he retired Bill Nick said that the best Spurs player he had ever seen was a close call between Dave Mackay and Ron Burgess, but Burgess just shaded it.

I've never seen him even on film, but I am prepared to accept that Mr Nicholson's judgement of a player is not lightly to be dismissed. So I contend that any Spurs player he rated alongside, let alone above Dave Mackay must go in the list, whether we've seen them or not.

Happy days. There used to be a saying 'round my way: 'You pay peanuts..you get Edinburgh and Austin'. Stick in Vega and Nethercott and you have the root of our defensive problems..we've never recovered to this day.
