What is the point of these threads? Do you realize how difficult it is to go above 12-13 teams? And we don't go fifth with three wins and 9 points. Other teams will win. 8 points is a lot.

We just have to take this season a match at a time because the Premiership is tough every week and I am still not sure how good we are. I will say Modric is amazing.

We had a good run of games at the start of the season and look where that got us. We always seem to underperform against the weaker teams. And to talk about Europe at this stage is daft. Like another poster said it's simply one match at a time.

Very close league this year, 14 of the 20 in the PL are in a negative GD position :duh: with only City in positive from 6th downwards.

2 points off 10th is what I'm looking at in the the short term. To all those thinking relegation was a certainty this does put into perpsective.

We are going to go through many more highs and lows throughout the season so lets not get too carried away.

10 points from Houdini in his first 4 league games. 10 from his next 4 would leave us 7th.

I'll be over the moon with 8 points and would bite your arm off for them now

Mainly to fight the doom merchants argument that we were/are in trouble. It demonstrates how close things are. We've gone up 5 places today, Fulham have gone up 9!

Next week we could be 10th next week and 9th the week after if EVERYTHING goes our way. OTOH if everything went against us (in other games) we could be 14th in two weeks but much close to top 4.

Now fulham are on 0 also so that's 13.

With Ramos relegation WAS a certainty.

good result today, that finally takes us out of the bottom 3. Still massive room for improvement from a lot of players. Was a bit disappointed with how we played when they went down to 9 men, but that was just evidence of a team that was a bit nervous about getting out of the relegation places.

I just hope now that they don't get too relieved and start to relax, bcos one bad result could affect us again. we really need to keep it going and prepare for when the decisions start to go against us.

i think it is too early to start looking at 5th just yet, 14th should be our aim now. We really can't afford to get complacent against Fulham, which would be easily done given the run of games we've just had. We have to keep looking up the table now but realistically so.

What is really needed is for some consistency from the poorer relations of our division in being crap. Note Hull City are on their way down!

The likely candidates are Blackburn, West Bromwich albion and Newcastle Utd unless they get a new manager and get to January for some new players.

We just have to keep going and picking off those around our position. That's all. The others will find their own level.
