That's exactly how I see it. Wouldn't touch Torres with a bargepole. He has admitted that the style of football here is taking its toll on his body and that he fears being a wreck in a few years.
I wish people could understand where we sit in the pecking order. There was someone on another thread believing we could out-bid Utd if we went head to head for a player. Now someone else believing we can poach the best players from one of the world's top clubs and ahead of all the other top clubs who'd want him.
I know it doesn't really matter, but it does illustrate why people get so unreasonably frustrated every transfer window; in their minds we're Marilyn Monroe, in reality we're Diana Dors.
Why don't we just give Carragher the move he always wanted. Better goalscoring record for us than Postiga and he always seems to be fondly remembered...
I think I'll have to reluctantly agree with Sloth's verdict.
I still think that his perceived value in the football world is very high and being a die-hard Liverpool fan, I suspect he would be more likely to take a big money move abroad than play for us which he would feel would be a step down at this point in his career.
I like the Marylin Monroe, Diana Dors analogy by the way.
Chelsea...Katie Price, Jordan what ever you want to call the shameless slapper?
An inspirational midfield leader is not what we need? I'll accept its not a priority but our squad clearly needs a leader for those days when things are not going our way as such you always need players like Steven Gerrard, if he was available I would be disappointed if we were not trying to bring him here.
