8 years on from signing him what are the forums honest opinions of him.

For me he is one player we should seriously look to be upgrading on. To think quite a few Spurs fans think Theo is "a shit Aaron Lennon" is laughable. He is a impact player off the bench at best, just like Defoe. Yes he has had a "good" season, for him, but that really aint saying much. Does he chip in with enough goals and assists to justify his undisputed starts in the team...? I would love to see Andros given a run next season or Son if we manage to sign him.

His stats for us.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_Lennon

He's a good PL level player, but doesn't look like he will reach a higher level. If we are going to a genuine 433 we'll need someone with more end product in the front 3.

Does usually put in a shift defensively though.

He's a decent player, his work rate going back has improved. You'd like him to chip in more going forward, but perhaps if we had a quality striker up front then he might.

We should always be looking to upgrade on players, but I think the striker position really should be our priority.

Strikers live and die by the service they get, does Aaron supply enough for a CL chasing team...?

Not good enough for a 4-3-3; used to love him as a player (still do to a lesser degree) but if we play him in that formation next season his limitations will be glaringly obvious.

Good player, he's more of a 4-4-2 man really. When you play one striker you need both wingers and the most advanced midfielder to regularly chip in with goals, he can't do that.

He never goes a full season without injuries and unless he's at 100% fitness, then he's not effective enough. It looks like he holds himself back when he's not fully fit.

I'd give Townsend a chance to establish himself next season, see what he can do.

Sometimes looks brilliant, scores important goals and I'm always feel happier when his name is on the team sheet - but would he get into Utd, City, Chelsea team...I don't think so.

Absolute bargain for what we paid, consistently decent PL player and a real Spurs man

But agreed, Walcott is vastly superior and we need a wide forward with that added goal threat, which Lennon just doesn't possess, in AVB's preferred formation

Even when he scores he looks like he scuffs it in, he is not a natural finisher in any way. At best in a 442 which we presumably won't play much any more?

If we will, he remains an important cog

We need to buy a RWr, simple as that. He's one player that needs proper competition. Either that or just sell and upgrade. Not doing nostalgia or sentiment anymore, there are players we love but need to be upgraded on if we are to achieve going forward.

On his day he is unstoppable, but those days are becoming much more rare.

Townsend will be an upgrade on him.

I've been banging this drum for months now and finally people are starting to see it in light of his QPR loan.

SandroBeast care to elaborate on the WTF rating. I'm intrigued to what you don't agree with.

If he's ever gonna get a chance, it will be under AVB, so he could well be a lucky boy.

He was having a great season up until we went to leeds in the cup then he had quite a quiet spell, personally i think Azza is one of those players who's value to the team can't be shown based on stats, i'd rather have him in the team than be facing him if he rocked up with another team.

Also don't forget he counts as home grown and i might be mistaken but we're a bit skinny on top drawer home grown english players plus who's out there that's an upgrade? We can't play 4-3-3 all the time, injuries, and tic-tacs will see to that.

I'd be gutted if the little bastard left.

With Townsend flourishing at QPR and Cebellos looking a real talent, who knows, if a decent bid comes in for Lennon then it might make sense all round to sell.

great buy, exciting to watch in full flow - but he's never become the player he could've... (someone will say "he tracks back well" - but he's an attacker: how about staying behind after training and working on shooting?)

too many cigars? too much too young?

He has to become more productive, simple as that. Yeah the comparison to Walcott is a tough one because recently Walcott has developed his finishing while Lennon has not. When Walcott gets through on goal it's starting to feel more inevitable that he'll score, with Lennon it feels more likely that he'll miss, or try a pass that isn't on.

Still think he's an excellent player but if he doesn't become more productive we need someone better.
