Lennon is not a goal scorer, if he was we would have lost him ages ago. His attacking work is sketchy, when he first came on the scene he would take on his man and absolutely skin them, but his supply play was poor. Now he rarely gets past anyone, but his crossing and passing have improved dramatically.

I don't think its a question on what he does on the ball, if it is then I think he doesn't do very much to be bluntly honest. But he has got Walker out of so much trouble in the past with his tracking back, and his energy to run after everything is useful. He is a good squad player until Townsend comes to fruition I believe.

We've been struggling to score goals 'cause we haven't used real wingers! No space...just like a crowded tube train; Soldado couldn't even see his feet!
And them real wingers have provided how many goals?

The problem isn't wingers or inverted wingers. The problem is that they're all been trying to play in front of the defence taking players on and shooting instead of looking to get played in behind the defence where they can be in 1 on 1 with the goalie or can slide the ball across to the striker who'll have an open goal.

Ideally when they start doing this the wide forwards will be inverted so that they are on their stronger shooting foot when through on goal but really they must be equally excellent at scoring and assisting with both feet. Especially given that they will be interchanging across the front line during the game. This is why I keep saying that Lamela will be more suited to us than Lennon. Lennon has made us look so much better though because he has actually looked to play behind their defence whereas Lamela, Townsend, Sig and Chadli haven't. To be at our best Lamela needs to play rwf, Townsend lwf and they need to be instructed to look for the space behind the defence first and then drop off to get involved in the game only when an early through ball can't be played.

He has never ever had real competition. That I am sure, has had a detrimental effect to his career.

Part of it. Not all of it. So far the others have offered none of it, hence Lennon being picked.
That's untrue. The others have all so far contributed to goals. He hasn't.

Goals are by far the biggest part, by the way. You don't win anything by creating more space than the opposition, you win by scoring more goals

You'll find the two usually go hand in hand.

So why are we still struggling for goals, even with Lennon's legendary space-making skills?

which goals have said skills gone hand in hand with?

Like it or not, as a winger or wing forward, your primary job is to create goals. all these other magical things Lennon supposedly does are all well and good....but they're supposed to be in addition to the creation of goals, not instead of. We can dress it up as much as we like, but the simple fact of the matter is that he is failing at his main task. While he's out there making space, others have created actual goals. You know...those pesky things that actually win you matches?

Honest opinion, he simply not good enough and never reached the potential he showed.

Woefully inconsistent. not enough goals, not enough assists...

Wears the badge on his heart and always gives his all, but it simply not enough. I like the fella, but he just ain't good enough.

Looking at the Liverpool game I think it is safe to say that he doesn't give his all. In fact had we repleced him with a traffic cone we would have lost nothing apart from his whinning huffy little bitch face. I just can't get my head around how one week he terrorised Evra, and the next he doesn't bother some buck-toothed fuck face.

Not a player noted for not giving his all. He always has. He may have his playing faults, but he's always been a trooper. There were too many others who also weren't giving their all yesterday. Hate to say it, but it seemed like an unconscious team statement. Problems were elsewhere, and here we are with today's news.

Pace is absolutely essential in the Prem. Liverpool showed us that again yesterday. Which is why I'm surprised we didn't sign a single player with pace out of the 7 we bought in the summer.

The fact that Lennon and Townsend are the only speedy attackers we have, means we have to play AT LEAST one of them.

They both blow hot and cold, but when Lennon is confident and running at players, he can be very useful.

So we may as well sign Usain Bolt.

Do the TOP clubs always play a pacey player? Is that true?

Man City staring 11 vs Arseholes:

30 Pantilimon
  • 5 Zabaleta
  • 4 Kompany
  • 26 Demichelis
  • 22 Clichy
  • 8 Nasri
  • 25 Fernandinho
  • 42 Toure
  • 21 Silva
  • 16 Aguero
  • 9 Negredo

What about Chelsea?

Those two picked purely because they are the two teams I rate the highest.

Keep Lennon as an impact sub for the last 20/30 mins of a game. He might not produce much, but against a tired side, he could make the difference, or at least draw a few markers to allow others to play in more space.

I hope thats some kind of joke.
Losing 5 0 at home to make a statement, if that was the case sack the lot.

Like I said, unconscious! You ever seen Lennon give up before? They didn't lose 0-5 'cause they gave up. They lost 0-5 'cause they weren't given a chance to play.

I find it quite amusing that lots think Lennon is at best an impact sub.

Over the last 3 seasons, possibly more - all of our slumps in form have come when he's been injured and out of action.

It's no co-incidence, that him playing does more to the opposition that is visible to the eye.

He needs doubling up, a lot, thus creating more space - hence why we are effective down the right (with Walker to add further trouble). He tracks back, very effectively, giving us more defensive capabilities.

He offers a hell of a lot more, and whilst his final ball can sometimes go missing slightly, what he offers, far outweighs the negatives.

A starter, every single time for me.
