Honestly, I despair with this forum these days.

Completed passes is stats mean nothing - when a player passes 5 yards behind his team mate and said team-mate, runs back 5 yards to collect the ball - that's still a completed pass.

It doesn't mean the pass wasn't misplaced in the first place and I'm afraid Lennon did that A LOT last weekend.

We won't go into the fact he still hasn't found his way out of Ben Davies' pocket yet..

Read as many stats as you want - Lennon was shit on Sunday.

You're eViL...how do you sleep at night?

I am the proud owner of his signed match day shirt from the Newcastle game home game with the poppy on it (shame he didn't wear it on the pitch!) My honest opinion of him is he is Tiny!! My 2 year old has his eye on the shirt but I wont let him wear it as he will be disappointed when he grows out of it in 6 months

Erm, play well? I would have looked good against Sheriff and that is me being 100% genuine.

Lamela has done nothing to justify a starting place in our team. Lennon has played well since his return from injury, whilst Lamela has been mostly unavailable due to injury.

Chadli and Townsend are ahead of him too at the moment, which is a sad reflection of the truth rather than his actual ability (in comparison to the others).
I hope your football is better than your posts.
Lets forget the bad games lennon has and bash other players, how unbiased of you.

Honest opinion on Lennon: It's the one guy I cannot get my head around and actually don't know how good is. I miss him when he's not playing, and I curse at him when he is.

But I do have some clear views:
  • His pace is important for us - Opponents fear his pace and it is important at counter attacks
  • He doesn't use his pace well enough off the ball. Several times in the last matches he wants the ball in his feet instead of running behind the back like Zabaleta often does with less pace. With his pace he should always try to strech the opponents with runs in all directions, especially in counter attacks.
  • His crosses (chips) is bad.
  • His finishing is bad.
  • His defensive work rate is good.
:)

There is no need to get personal.

I have acknowledged Lennon's poor games in previous posts, including Sunday's game. So no, I am not biased. I just don't think there is a realistic upgrade available.

Which reminds me, was Salah a realistic replacement before the Chelsea bid etc? Is he an improvement on Lennon?

Would maybe been a bit difficult with the controversy he caused against Israel, refusing to shake hands etc, but he reminds me a bit of an Arda Turan, can play along the 3 behind the striker, be telling if he makes a big impact at Chelsea, not sure if he will to be honest. The Scousers were also linked with him.

If the stats show we don't miss Lennon when he doesn't play, then all that shows is there are lies, damn lies, and then there are statistics

I think the fact that Lennon has been pretty much first choice for every manager since he arrived speaks volumes about him. Both old school and new school have picked him both on the right and the left.
He's quick with the occasional trick, he's happy to recycle the ball, he puts in the odd good cross, the odd good pass, and scores the odd goal. Overall, I don't think there are too many better out and out wide men in the Premiership.
My issue with him is that I have always believed he could do more, that he could become a Bale type player but, obviously, without the physical power, yet he has never regularly imposed himself on games enough to justify that really top class tag.

Wow he is right up there with Juan Mata..............lets see if we can get £37M off United for him as well.

Er, no. Mata creates chances from set pieces, which Lennon really doesn't do at all. Mata also scores more goals (although their conversion rate last season was the same, one in four). That's why Chelsea paid £25m (?) for him and why a desperate United are willing to pay half as much again. And £20m is probably the minimum we'll have to pay to find a RM significantly better than Lennon.

Last season only seven EPL players created more goalscoring opportunities from open play, and only seven more actual assists (Edit: from open play, obviously.)

http://www.barriesview.com/2013/05/2012-13-premier-league-passing-stats

And there is a left back ahead of him who scores more goals and makes more assists.

Lennon had 7 assists all year. He scored maybe 3?

We should be getting more from our wings.

When I first started on this website we were talking about goals from the side or something like that.

We desperately need that when we only have Ade and eriksen scoring.

Azza always looks like he's had a bit of the Salvador Dali when he plays - the pace is frightening. Can anybody with those small legs run so bloody fast? It's when he gets to the byline and puts in a hit and miss cross that makes you go - oh no, not that shit again. Its the inconsistency with his crossing that has held him back otherwise he could have been one of the greats. I am happy he is in our squad. Overall he is a good asset but damn he could be great only if......

Well spotted! Seven players created more chances from open play than Lennon last season, and one of them was Everton's LB! Not much gets past you!

In fact, Baines created an amazing 111 chances last season, but only five were converted. He did score more goals than Lennon, though. One more, to be precise.

That left back is ahead of everybody.

Nearly all of Baines goals, assists and chance creations are from free kicks & corners.
