Well Walnutt has come on leaps and bounds at Woolwich hasn't he?? I actually think Everton would have been a good move for him as he would actually get first team football other than in the CC. Glad we weren't even in for him now he has gone to the scum

can anyone explain why we didn't at least make a bid for him? I think we would have had a good chance in getting him

In short, Giovani Dos Santos.

For c£5-6 million, the 19-year-old Dos Santos who's played almost an entire season for Barca, is a better buy than the 17-year-old Ramsey who's played around 20 games in the English Championship.

Dos Santos is ready to play. Now. Ramsey will probably be on the goon bench like Walcott last season, or loaned out.

Plus in Bostock, Parrett, Mason, Rose, Berchiche, Townsend, Adam Smith etc we have plenty of 16-18 year-olds pushing to make the grade.

If we had unlimited money, then Ramsey would have been nice. But Dos Santos is clearly a better use of £5-6 million right here, right now. And given he's twice been voted amongst the best three players at U17 & U20 World Cups, there's a good chance he'll prove a better use of cash in the medium term too.

Another non-English speaking player at AFC.

(Allegedly AR is a Welsh speaker, probably bi-lingual)

Can't help but think this justifies the Spurs line of not putting it on the official site until they are absolutely certain, how silly do Man Utd look and imagine if we had announced a player only for arsenal to come and pinch them.

I suspect arsenal wanted him in preparation for when fabregas leaves in a year or two.

if you are on a 2 year contract at an office selling paper to the trade and you want to leave to work for another company - you have to give notice of your departure and then leave.

your employers cant say well firstly its september the second so we are outside of the transfer window - you'll have to wait until January 1st and we want £25,000 to transfer your registration to WH smiths.

But certainly teachers, for instance, can't just up sticks and move. If they want to leave their post, there is a deadline up to which point they can hand in their notice. After the deadline has passed, then they're committed to staying put until the next Teachers Transfer Window opens.

And I haven't seen much of Ramsey. But if Wenger has signed him, he must be reasonably talented. And aren't they of one mind, the Welsh and French, in hating the English? Or is that the Scots and French? Or indeed, all 3?
