I can't believe we haven't bid for this kid. Something is very strange. He ticks all the right boxes

Not at £5 million up front, he doesn't. The general feeling is that he'll be loaned back to Cardiff for the entire season as part of the deal. So, Ramsey is definitely a player for 2009 onwards and SC wouldn't be happy at another Kaboul/Boateng/player for the future signing.

For any player costing £5 million or more, I suspect Juande and the board are insisting that he must be ready to play in August.

NB remember we poached Gunter for £2 million from Everton because Cardiff were insisting on money upfront rather than never-never clauses, so the reports that they're insisting on £5 million upfront for Ramsey have a ring of truth.

All cardiffs transfers have been straight cash up front as far as I know. They need the cash as we all know with the problems that the club have with loans.

5 million imo will seem like a bargin in a few years time.. who's willin to take the risk and utd and everton are.

I think as we'll have to spend up to 5m on Bostock, and having spent lots on Bale, Gunter and Parrett perhaps we've decided just to spend some money on some first teamers before splurging any more cash on the youngsters.

I saw him play against Portsmouth.

He wasn't that good.
He didn't seem to have great pace.
His technique seemed good, but not excellent.

Maybe he was having a bad game.

I think going after him would be a waste of time at the moment as so many other clubs are after him.

I dont think we should forget either that our wheeler dealers are prob a bit busy with other deals, can only do so many deals at a time with out annoying other potential signings.

Surely if it's £5 million for the 17-years-old Ramsey who's never played in the EPL, or c£6 million for the just turned 19-years-old Dos Santos, who's appeared in nearly every match for Barcelona this season, the decision is a no-brainer.

Bostock will not be £5 million up front. It may not even be a million up front. £5 million will probably only apply if he becomes the reincarnation of Glenn Hoddle.

So, assuming we don't have unlimited money and also need to buy a top class CM, a top class GK, etc, I can understand why we may not be getting involved in the Ramsey auction...

I think we have enough youth atm (assuming Dos Santos comes) and if we bought another 17 year old we would run the risk of not having enough experience in the entire squad, let alone the first team.

We should leave this one imo.

Very good point lad! Made me happy reading that. Wee Spurs are thinking ahead!

Still, I think his price will reflect the potentially disastrous effect of the 6+5 rule for the top 4. They are currently sh*tting their pants and see a at least a future squad player in Ramsey. I am at least guessing that Welsh and Scottish players will be included in the domestic quota if the rule will gets implemented.

In FM, i bought Bostock, Scannel, Moses and Ramsey, and stuck them all in my U18 side along with Rose, Parrett etc.

Lets just say i started winning every game 8-0 after that

I think he should be the last teeenagre we should buy

Add him to Rose Parratt Gunter Bostock and the club would have a very good future. I just can't believe we haven't bid

To be fair, he came on near the end of a pretty tense match, in front of 90k people. I think he was destined not to make too much of an impact.

i wish people would stop going on about the 6 + 5 rule, it will neverhappen, its as illegal as my going into my neighbours house, forcibly feeling up his wife and then taking a spoon and battering him to death with it. and as likely as well.

the rule that might happen is the uefa proposed homegrown rule, where every team in european competition will have to submit their registered squad of 25 (as is the case now i believe) and of that 25 a certain amount will have had to have trained with that club, not any club from that nation, but that club, for 3 years between the age of 15 and 21. doesn't have to be a domestic player, but obviously it gives rise to the possibility of more domestic players coming through. but if we stick with him for another year and a half, for instace, taarabt would count. lennon counts, dervite would count in a years time, pekhart to.

if the lack of domestic players at top european clubs continues to be an issue the way to solve it is not with quick fix legislation like these rules, but long term investment into football at the youngest levels so that players are developed to be good enough from an early age. and it takes less money than people think... i dont think argentina or brazilhave that much money to spend on creating top football talent but they constantly do!

Cant see us getting him after bostock has just signed. Arent bostock, parrett, rose and ramsey all attacking CMs or no.10 style players? We cant have four 16-17 yr olds all vying for one position. That would just be overkill

Looking at the stats, Ramsey is a 17yr old highly rated attacking midfielder with about 20+ Championship games under his belt and would cost over £5m, Bostock is a 16yr old highly (higher?) rated attacking midfielder with about 5+ games in the championship under his belt and will cost less than £5m? I'd be happy to stick with what we have for now, although if the club did make a bid, it may be still worth while and I'm sure we'd have as good a chance as Utd or anyone in convincing him to come, infact I think Bale and Gunter would give us an edge.

I'm not sure this is illegal across all European countries 'LeGin:)
