I know that at the back end of May the club announced that Jamie Davis and Chris Riley had been released. Has anyone heard any news on the second year Academy players though? Have they all been offered pro contracts or were any released?

Ok everyone, not sure if any of you can confirm but on top of Davis and Riley I understand Matt Wells, Lee Butcher and Radwan Hamed have all been let go. Anyone got any info on this?

Is it a surprise? How many players get promoted to the 'development' squad every season?

If it is just those 5 players that have left the club then it is hugely encouraging. Three summers ago we had 11 reserve and Academy players move on - that number has been steadily coming down each year and this is the lowest number of such releases since I've been keeping an eye on it.

Of the 5 going this year, 4 were young professionals and only one (Butcher) was in the Academy. What is particularly unusual is that it means that no players coming to the end of their 2nd year in the Academy have been moved on. This can only suggest that the club believe that they have enough potential to keep on in the ressies on contracts for at least a year (and to be fair, most have been playing at that level already).

Finally, shame to see Radwan Hamed's Spurs career come to an end if he has moved on. I don't think he appeared for us after his collapse.

he is still listed on the offical site

I dont know if that means he is still around or not.

However he is lucky even to be alive, he had to be revived on the pitch.

Since then he missed a whole year of his development (at a key stage) its hard enough to make it when everything goes your way let alone when you have to fight for your life and have to learn to walk and run again.

If he has not been released I highley doubt he would be able to make it at this level. But one should always count your blessings, at least he is still with us and can make something of his life instead of being another Mark Foe.
