I think I'm getting battered supporter syndrome from all these contradictory interviews.

I know he keeps talking about other clubs, but really he wants to stay, right? RIGHT?!

But some people say the length of his contract doesn't tell the full story cos in year or so he can buy himself out of it with this 'Webster law' - I dunno if it's true or not

In that case what would you recommend we do? In an era when contracts mean nothing (unless you're the England Manager and are hanging on for a gigantic pay off) would you tie a player to the club who kept making noises about going elsewhere and who you think is "not a team player"?

Surely an amicable solution all round is best?

I don't think the club should do anything. Just wait and see. I don't think there will be as much interest in him as he seems to think there will be because I don't think the full package is massive club quality. In fact I think he's about the right quality for a team like us.

The only teams that could conceivably afford him are the big two in Spain, the big three in Italy and the big four in England. Of those the Spanish won't want him. The English won't want him. And I doubt very much that the Italian's will want him. Why?

The only English team which has expressed an interest is Man U and his attitude's nowhere near good enough for them. Milan and Italian clubs in general don't have the money to burn otherwise they'd be a possibility. Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are out of the picture. The Spanish have better uses for £25m.

If anyone offers us that much then we'll bite their hands off. But they won't and so he's ours until he shows a real improvement in his team ethic and consitently performs.

Really, I've got to the 'Don't know, don't care' stage with this.

He's a very good player, but I suspect he'd be more easily replaceable than Carrick was—or rather, if we couldn't find a striker who would replicate what he brings to the party, there are midfielders who could.

I'm just getting a little pissed-off that here we have a very bright guy who, like Mido before him, speaks better English than most native-born players. He must understand what's going on, and what's going through fans' minds. There's just a fundamentl dishonesty here. Diarra got criticised for saying he saw Pompey as a stepping-stone to bigger things, but at least he was up front about it. At the moment Berba appears to want to have his cake and eat it.

My interpretation is he feels he's given us 2 years, now he's ready to move on and play CL Football if and when an offer comes in for him. By constantly saying "for now I'm a Tottenham player" it's patently clear. Ofcourse without a suitable bid, he can't go, and I'm also sceptical about the so called Milan/Real interest etc. However I do believe there would be offers from other PL teams, Fergie did want him, if he still does, and the Club allows him to talk and accepts a bid, he's off. Only not for a record transfer fee. Didn't we hold out for an increased bid for Carrick? Depends what Levy/Ramos will accept for Berbs. Once Carrick said he wanted to go to MU, it was agreed to sell, the same will apply to Berba.

I've been thinking about this for days now and after the recent interviews i just want Berbatov to take his agent and to fuck off to a 'big club' he wants to actually play for...

He understands how much he means to us fans and how much Tottenham Hotspur have done for his career, yet still he doesn't shut his fucking parasite of an agent up or more frustratingly throws comments like "i know Sir Alex Ferguson wants me"...

No player is bigger than our club, no player will be remember throughout history like our club, he's not the best player in the world and we can get someone just as good for the money his transfer will bring in...

So if he loves it at our club sign a new contract, shut the fucking agent up and get on with it... If he doesn't want to be here (which its fairly clear he doesn't) then just fuck off and chase the trophies and the fat pay pack at Barca, Milan or whoever else but just cos he is our best player doesn't mean he will get in any of their sides anyway

They won't love his petulance at the biggest clubs. They'll get on his back for being a prima dona, which in all honesty I wish some of our fans had the pride to do too.

Petulance?

I give you:
Teddy Sheringham
Thierry Henry
Eric Cantona
Wayne Rooney
Paul "I only answer to The Guvnor" Ince
Steve Archibald (who rather than chasing Hoddle's through balls would turn and scream abuse at him)
Etc

Berba's "petulance" isn't in the same class as any of the above.

He does get frustrated when his teammates play at a lower level than him, and when things don't break in our favour. It doesn't stop him being a great player.

The former. But it's a good assumption

I dunno, Fergusson knows a quality player when he sees one and even if his interests have shifted elsewhere I would expect him to atleast be considering Berbatov as an option if he felt he became a viable target.

SAF will want him, he's the only thing missing in their team, and would hence be worth double of that of Carrick and Hargreaves. Only problem is that one out of Rooney/Tevez will be sidelined, at least in the important games. I don't know, maybe he'll give us one more season, but if we're not in the CL by then, he'll definatly leave. But remember, he's got 2+2 years left, so we're not in a hurry to sell...

Im not so sure, alot of Berbatov's game centres around his creativity and how he links the play (brings in the team around him etc), Utd have many players with this ability, Rooney/Tevez/Ronaldo all have similar ability to do so up top... not to mention the quality and creativity their midfielders add to the team (Carrick/Scholes/Nani/Anderson/Giggs)

In my personal opinion what their side could truely benefit from is a Torres player, If they had signed him instead of Liverpool they would be near unstoppable now I believe.

Of course I also feel they will want Berbatov as he is clearly a quality player and would grace any team in the world. However I feel if Sir Alex has someone of similar quality and attributes to Torres in mind then that player may head their transfer list ahead of Berbatov.

he'll be able to leave for free (buy the remaining of his contract) next year so we are in a kind of a hurry. apart from that back when he was bought he was promised to be let go if a big offer arrives - i clearly remember him AND his manager emphasizing on it.

Maybe some of us don't see it as an issue and prefer to applaud his skill.
