Don’t see it happening at all now, what would be in it for Wolves? Selling one of your most important players without time to buy a replacement.

All of the things we were saying a week or two about Kane applies for Wolves in this scenario.
You’re probably right.

I wonder if we’d have paid if Kane had been sold.

Seems now we’ll buy a couple depending on selling fringe players. But unless a big sale comes in we probably won’t spend the sort of money required to buy Traore.

My knowledge of world football has been shit for years but I can’t recall any professional player coming close to Traoré’s physique + pace combination.

Can anyone point me in the direction of someone even remotely similar? Never seen anything like it and I find his ability to retain speed whilst bulking up really fascinating.

By every account Mendes has their replacement all ready to hop on the plane so I don't think that's the issue.

Isn't the replacement meant to be Guedes? So they have it lined up if we get the deal done.

Can't see this happening unless we pay over the top 45-50m, why would Wolves let him go now otherwise.
Could of done with him having a bad game yesterday.

I really want this guy and usually I don’t get very vested in any transfer link (apart from Bale coming home).

I don’t know why but I feel he would go up a level with us. Watching the clips yesterday he’d have bagged 1-2 assists if they fell to a Kane.

He's certainly unique.

It's like taking the athleticism and physical presence of Sissoko, with the muscle mass of Akinfenwa, somehow defying physics with the pace of Walker, and the technical attributes are probably a mix of those.

After all, Sissoko can dribble, but he's never had the acceleration or balance to do much with it - Traore's difference is being able to stay on his feet and burst away - he's probably worse than Moura and Bergwijn at 'technical' dribbling, if you watch what he does.

I've certainly never seen a top-level player that big (upper body), and certainly not one that quick.

As mentioned in jest previously, look at some of the Rugby lads, especially the wingers. Some of them are like a steamroller with a Ferrari engine.

Rugby players, on average will run around half the distance of a PL player, so whilst you can get bulky lads with good sprinting (usain bolt is reasonably well built), it isn't the kind of physique that is normally good for running long distances at the same time.

The fact he's so lean probably helps - he'd probably be huge with 10% body fat

Daily Record mentioning us as keeping an eye on Edouard.

I wonder if he indeed seen as a different alternative should the Traore deal fail to materialise.

Not wishing to derail thread, so no need for lengthy debate, think that was done a few weeks back in the ITK discussion thread.

Just thought it was worth remembering that he has been mentioned by ITK iirc, he's relatively cheap, and still supposedly available.

I would take him at this point to be honest…

Celtic were also interested in Cameron Carter Vickers so maybe that would offset some of the fee.

Not to bring this up again but it will massively depend on position and tactics a club will employ. A center back for a football club that parks the bus isn’t going to register twice the distance a scrum half will for an attacking rugby side. Likewise, a prop in rugby isn’t going to get close to a box to box midfielder who plays for an expansive team.

I agree in general, though, football players will tend to cover more ground on the whole if you looked across the board. Not sure it would be twice as much but a couple of miles more per game probably.

I would like to see Traore play rugby. He’d probably be pretty handy. His passing would probably be shit like it is in foootball but I wouldn’t want to tackle him.

Rugby is an 80 minute game, whereas football is over 90 mins, so there's a little more time, but the stats I was looking at suggested an average 7km in a game, and football 11km.

I was going on the higher side of averages with the position/type of player being on that will be sprinting up and down the pitch frequently

Being at a Prem club who have less financial issues makes this one much harder I imagine.

If he played for Betis or Bologna we'd probably have a much better chance at a reasonable deal.

You and me both. This is a deal I really wanted to happen. Would love to see him charge through the middle in a Spurs shirt

How much do they want for him?
This is the problem. Nuno wanted him from the off, Fab and Hitch were not convinced. His performances this season have now convinced them, but those performances have also pushed his price up.

This one pretty much rests on Mendes, as to whether it happens or not.
