I thought he salutes the fans for their support.

I believe it's as simple as this. He's on the downward slope of his prime years, and he is very much a player that wants to be loved. Looks to me like he's trying to get him "a club."

He keeps doing what he's doing, I'll salute him back every single time.

I think he's having a mickey take with Soldado. The Soldier! Showing Spurs fans, and AVB possibly, he is the only Soldier. Something like that!

I really like it, hope he keeps it for the rest of his career.

I'm not so sure he's on the downward slope of his career to be honest. He's never really relied on his pace. At times he reminds me a little bit of Drogba, who was a player that seemed to get stronger and more effective once he hit his 30s. Other players like Forlan played their best football in their 30s as well.

He has also done it in the past with Man City & Arsenal. I like it though!

"OH MY GOD HOW DARE ADEBAYOR salute he iz nt Commander only Lord Ronaldo is commander. Iv Blatter say sumthing to Adebayor then he is racist."

i dunno the reason for it, but today when he scored his first i found myself jumping up off the couch to salute him back (y)

I then proceeded to laugh at myself, given it was 6 am here!

I like it as a celebration. Simple, rememberable, better than a stupid dance. Like it when players have decent signature celebrations.

As a celebration its ok but not up there with Crouch's robot or Keano's daft somersault and cartwheel.
