Some of the criticism is ridiculous. He's a far more talented footballer than Dempsey. He's got a great cross on him, he's two footed, tricky, not a slouch and good in possession. He'll be a solid buy for us.

Agree, looks like he has the right physicality for the league, and will only get better once he gets fully used to it.

Will be interesting to see what avb does when he's not playing, as in will he want to stick with a right footed player on the left, in which case would he play Lennon there?

I know this is the Ljajic thread so don't want to go too off topic but I don't see us having both him and Chadli as it looks like they both play a similar position.

I'm not slating Chadli, and while I think Lamela is a great player, it seems to be a big part of the reason we're signing him is because we need a "big name signing" to replace Bale and Baldini has chosen to help out his former club taboot. All this while we already have more depth on that right side regardless. IMO, Townsend is better than any of our options on the left. Yet we're trying to bring in another RW, regardless of his quality. Ljajic is a great player who is young, can play on the left, and immediately provide cover at CAM. So once again, no insult to Chadli. I think he's done quite well, and despite the quality of the opposition, his cross to Soldado against Tbilisi was a great sign because it displayed his threat on either foot. It doesn't look like Ljajic is intent on coming here anyway, but I do wish we'd pursue another quality, young LW.

The closest player left who we can get is Eriksen, and I think we'll move for him.

Agree, although Eriksen wont be quit as effective out on the left, he is much more at home in the centre of the park. Would have much preferred Ljajic but i think you are right, unless pool get him now, i think he will be with us come the 2nd.

Yep. Ljajic would have ticked all the boxes. Eriksen fits one of them neatly and whilst effective out wide, not as natural as Ljajic. Still, at least he is competent out wide and not just a square peg etc.The closest approximation anyway. Lamela is the key one for the club I guess. Ljajic and Eriksen or Lamela and Eriksen.

Kerist we've come a long way either way. Eriksen was looking almost out of reach just a few windows ago and he was still a teenager. Now we're looking at him as a fall-back.

I'd prefer Eriksen just because of how badly we need a top quality CAM immediately. Eriksen has loads of CL experience for his age, and has performed quite well in the tournament to date. I think the reason he isn't already here is because we are looking for a guy who can more adequately cover another attacking position. But as you said, I do think Eriksen will be in London come September.

Well, although Arda Turan is more of your regular "in-the-hole" trequartista type playmaker, he still plays out wide (on the left).
And we seem to be in for him (at least according to some sources).
I'm salivating at the delicious prospect of seeing Arda Turan in our lillywhite, providing creativity from the left flank, with Lamela playing the 10-er behind Soldado, and Townsend on the right (in a 4-2-3-1 variation).
Although Ljajic is a much different player to Turan, I definitely wouldn't reject a deal for him. Very talented footballer that kid.

I guess I'd be equally happy with either.

Well, there is this from Daily Star (came in a couple of minutes ago), which doesn't instill too much confidence (especially since they can't even spell the article title correctly) -->> http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...r-for-Arsenal-and-Liverpool-target-Arda-Turan
IIRC, there was also a Cadena (sp?) tweet a few days ago in regards to us making a bid I thought.
And last, but definitely not least, unless I'm completely off the tangent, he has a release clause, doesn't he?

But ultimately no, afaik, he isn't trying to leave on his own to answer your question.
I'd love to have him though, regardless.

Indeedy. I see he even has his own fred, which is now my new favourite. This had completely escaped me tbh. Lamela and Turan = football chubby!

Sorry, Christian, you can fuck off again. :D

His agent has been intimating he's like to leave for the Premier League. We'd likely have to trigger his release clause if we want him, so it seems like a possible Levy deadline day move.

Which will probably equate to ITKs confirming that its happening and that he is coming etc ... then the simple get out of the fax machine being knackered ... EFAX if you are reading this Danny

Great bit of business for Roma. Can provide quality in the near term and if they hold on to him would be a direct Totti replacement position-wise. Roma's fans are pissed but considering their circumstances I think they've had a pretty solid window.
