Why would Roma sell us Lamela if we were serious about stealing this guy from them? Somewhere along the road someone has to tell some truth seriously and not try and screw over another team? Scouts honour and all that...

Depends on Fiorentina's resolve with Milan I guess.

Fiorentina, if they play well, can challenge for the title this year. I highly doubt they would sell one of their best players to competition for that spot.

Agreed. And it's important to note Milan pipped Fiorentina for the final spot much like Arsenal did to us, so it'd make as much sense as us selling Vertonghen to les Arse after having one promising season in the Prem.

I think Josip Ilicic was brought in to fill the gap Ljajic will leave (with Mario Gomez taking Jovetic' place).

no chance of us signing both Lamela and Ljajic so i'm guessing the latter is back in case the Lamela deal goes belly up!

Had it not been for the fact that Roma are looking at Ljajic for their Lamela replacement, I can't see why we wouldn't be able to sign both. Ljajic is on his last year of the contract and is interested in joining Milan (who on the last days of the league beat Fiorentina to the CL places). He would probably be pretty cheap for a team outside of Italy - €10-15m. Lamela will cost €30m, so the two of them would cost no more than £40m, £20m less than Willian + Lamela would cost.

would rather see Townsend given a deserved run then buy Ljajic for like 15m.

Lamela, Vlad, Coentrao and if Ade goes then i expect Damiao at 10pm on Sept 2nd

Ljajic plays as a #10 or on the left. Wouldn't leave Townsend on the bench.

Surprised we don't seem to be going in harder for this guy. The kid looks the perfect alternative to Willian to be honest. Same position, creative from the left cutting in onto his right. Real quick feet and a burst of pace. At the price compared to Willian we could surely afford a bit of bribery in the form of signing on fee etc to get it done.

Maybe because Roma want him, and we don't want to screw our deal for Lamela

Goal are claiming that he'll stay the season out and leave for Milan in the summer. Think Fiorentina will sell if a bid around the 10m mark comes in (they denied Milan at €7m earlier in the window). We need to get Lamela done and then launch a massive effort for Ljajic imo. Would be an amazing asset for Spurs.

No disrespect, but the lad has come out and said that he wants AC Milan, if he waits a year

A) He can go to AC Milan (Who also like the player incidentally)
B) Command huge wages for being a freebie.

He is not coming to us.

If Fiorentina doesn't want to let him go to Milan, and threaten to bench him the whole season if he doesn't move to us, or whoever make an acceptable bid, he won't go to Milan.

Kid has dreamed of Milan since he was a kid. Milan are aware of his talent hence trying to get him in. He can negotiate his contract in little under 4 months with Milan. There are players out longer with injuries than three months and have come back to negotiate contracts.

exactly. i think he would be quite happy to wait a few months to start negotiating with ac milan. if he gets sold now to another club who knows if he ever will be able to get his ac milan move. he might explode and become too expensive and out of reach etc.

Damn shame for us, kid would fit in so perfectly. Props to him though for following his heart and dreams.
