He was reportedly our scout for Spain and Portugal, so that doesn't work. Might have just been a six month contract, they weren't happy with his work, and decided to look elsewhere.Maybe homesickness?
"Old style scout"?? No such thing. There is absolutely no substitute for "hands on scouting". No football club worth the name would buy players based purely on "software scouting". That is only the first phase, if that stacks up favourably then the player is watched live extensively before considering a purchase.Broomfield is 64 - the role he was being offered by Arsenal was to work for Arsenal's Chief Scout Steve Rowley.
Maybe its as straightforward as Broomfield reaching an age where he doesn't want the hassle of a full time management role in charge but very happy to offer advice and scout top targets.
So maybe we've got a very modern 'Technical scout' in Mitchell using all the software stuff alongside a very old style scout - best of both worlds in getting views on whether to recruit a particular player. No more #magnificent seven# ?

These days the 'software scouting' includes watching a lot of videos of whole matches where the player being scouted is watched - and indeed the match can be dissected to show every pass/tackle or other touch that the scouted player makes. So its not just stats based.
I'm not disagreeing that the player will be watched 'live' btw
He probably scouted our setup as his first act and quickly got out. If Spurs were a caste system, scouts would be our Dalits.
