Frankly this deal won't make any sense unless Qatar is at the verge of bidding for Spurs.

Our two first choice CMs are academy graduates who show a great deal of promise but both of whom are still very green. One of those graduates is off to the ACN for a month or so, leaving us with the average Stambouli, the pedestrian Dembele, and the exiled Capoue as back up.

We clearly need CM cover. Rabiot is a CM available on loan. It makes perfect sense for us to sign him.

I can't see any chance of us bringing in another CM as well as Rabiot, which means in January we'd be left with Mason-who's not playing great and currently injured, Dembele - who has history of picking up injuries, Stambouli - still settling in & barely started a PL game and Rabiot - barely played this season who'll take weeks/months to even settle in. That looks worryingly threadbare until Bentaleb back.
Why are you so certain Rabiot would take so long to settle in? Bentaleb and Mason settled in with ease.

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has to sign it off though.

He's a player from a different league who's barely played a game this season. It's not so much settling in it's a lot due to fitness levels. Bentaleb is fantastic and will be a huge miss. Mason I'm yet to be sold on and don't think he's been playing well the last few weeks.

I would agree with that. I've been hoping we'd sign Delph for awhile now as I think he'd fit Poch's system to a tee and he'd be very cheap this January, but I'm wary of making moves that would signal the end of Carroll given his recent improvements. I really don't want us to sell him to Swansea, as that playmaking ability in tight spaces is exactly the kind of thing we still lack from deep. Touchy subject in midfield this January will be.

Meh, still better than United paying Falcao, who's scored fewer goals than Chadli, Kane and Eriksen, £200k per week.
I think you are missing the point. You pay big bucks to big players. He is not even in the 1st team.
A) The figure is wrong.
B) Something funny going on.

Fair enough. None of us know how fit he truly is though.

Quite difficult to get into the first team when you have Motta, Matuidi, Cabaye and Verrati playing in the same position.

£200k per month for a 19yo who can't get in the 1st team? Curiouser and curiouser.

Not really that curious, Mr Sandwich. If we were talking about not being able to get in the 1st team at Montpellier (for example), I'd agree with you. However, it's money-bags PSG you're talking about. He's competing with the likes of Lucas Moura, Javier Pastore, Veratti, Matuidi, Motta and Cabaye. I'd imagine the wage he is on, was given to him to ensure he remains a PSG player?

As you correctly intimate, that's a lot of money for a kid, but it's worth it if it means he is going to end up playing for them, rather than against them. Fair comment?

I will bow to your superior knowledge of French football. The reason I come onto SC is to hear from people who have more info about some subjects than myself. I did not know about the nutty owner who has mega bucks so maybe he authorised the wages.
I still think he ain't on that much but it's just a guess.

Screw that. I know bugger all about French football, I just took a quick peek at their squad & found out who they have in their ranks. Let's face it, we'd probably all take Cabaye without a second thought, yet he can't even get in the starting line-up at PSG. That was sort of my point, mate. As others have pointed out, they're also owned by a mega-rich crazy mofo, so money hasn't been a massive stumbling block for them.

I wouldn't read as much into this as the Qatari group poised to bid for us, I know there was a recent interview but we'll have to wait a while for something like that to develop IMO. We need a CM and this guy seems to be available, wouldn't cost a fee, could help us push to top 4 and could lead to a perm in the summer if all goes well. This transfer is nowhere near as strange as some of you are making out, if it's even strange at all

Oooh, of course a latest internet thingy says PSG may be interested in Hugo. 2+2= 8.

Or does it? Give me 5 minutes and I could knock up a decent story based on nothing very much that would have loads of people commenting. "A source close to.....

Agreed. It's even been said Mitchell has been keeping tabs on this player for awhile, so I think it's nothing more than coincidence that we're allegedly interested in him and their super wealthy owners have been rumored to be interested in buying Spurs.
