I don't see us going after him and Barkley. Personally, I'd rather have J M Seri than either of them. Then we'd have a long term replacement for Dembele.

I said at the start of the summer that I was hoping for 3 signings down the 'spine': CB, CM, AM.

Therefore I would welcome this signing.

Seri is 26 later this month, not that long-term.

Equal, worse or better than we have?

Equal I suppose but also adds something different. If Dier plays more in defence next season, another CM would come in handy IMO. Lots of games. Dembele is like a vintage Rolls Royce nowadays. Supreme when he plays but can't be relied on to do 200 miles on the motorway. :D

Thx mate. I noticed on the vid he is good on the ball. Something we don't necessarily have then by looks and sounds of it

He's also solid on free kicks and penalties. Which are small fine tuned skills that could be useful in case Eriksen/Son/Kane suffer an injury spell and we need more players to step up to handle them.

If he signs I see him as a alternative/compliment to Eriksen mainly. And we need depth and he also brings with him a champions and winner mentality. He also loves the physical aspects of the games and leads from the front ala Parker so he'd do us good in that aspect.

As for the age thing, he's 28. Not that old all things considered.

On the flip side we need experience to balance out the youth in the squad. We need to bring in guys who've won trophies and been champions to further instill that type of mentality in the club. Guys like Onomah and Winks would benefit from training and working with him.

And he's only 28. He's got a good 4-5 years left in him bar a freak injury.

We're obviously on a budget so getting someone like a Pepe or a Ibrahimovic or such is out of the ballpark. But Silva is within our pricerange and is someone who I think would enhance the squad
