I don't know if anyone watched the U21 game yesterday but the guy we should be looking at from Sporting is Daniel Podence, like a young Griezmann.
Right-footed (which almost always means more two-footed), and a bit quicker. Draws a lot of fouls, but that seems to be because he runs into defenders, rather than around them. Not sure that would work so well in the Prem. In tight spaces, he'll have to rely on the foul, whereas Edwards seems to have a genuine ability to dribble around players.Looks impressive, but (genuine question) does he have anything that Marcus Edwards doesn't?
Stylistically, for anybody who hasn't seen him play, he is quite a lot like Moutinho, not necessarily world class at anything, but very good at nearly everything. Very busy athletically and will get stuck in a lot, has 17 caps for Portugal and I reckon he would have more, if it wasn't for Moutinho himself keeping him out of the side.
Scored 6 in 36 all comps this year, so a strike rate of 1 in 6 which is not bad for a central (often deeper sitting) midfielder... For 15-20 mill I would be down, he isn't young but we do need some experience in he side I feel, he would be good for a player like Winks
I think he has more pace and perhaps better body strength.Looks impressive, but (genuine question) does he have anything that Marcus Edwards doesn't?
He won Portugal the 3rd place play off. By scoring a penalty in extra time. He also missed a penaltyFor what it is worth he just won Portugal the confederations cup
Andre Silva (Milan striker) missed the penalty. He won Portugal the 3rd place play off. By scoring a penalty in extra time. He also missed a penalty
Right you areAndre Silva (Milan striker) missed the penalty.
Ofcourse many media lie. But not all reports can be discarded all the time. I will discard this rumour not because of Portugeuse media, but because , I know we won't pay 25m for a 28 year old
Not under Poch though. In fact burning our hands with Soldado probably made us more skeptical towards buying older pro for bigger moneyDidn't we do exactly that with Soldado ?
Let me get this straight: We wouldn't pay 25M for somebody who is born 1989 (Silva)? So Sissoko, who is born in 1989, didn't happen?Ofcourse many media lie. Fascinated that he seems to be a go to penalty taker on both national side and club as a CM. Not sure why CM would be where Poch would want to spend money most but I wouldn't complain having experience like his in the side.
Signing him would read for me that Poch felt inexperience and/or lack of depth contributed to our failed UCL campaign last year and he wants to take it more seriously this year, but then again this is probably not happening like JJ said.
