I seen Andros since he was 16 and I seen Cebellos(bits and bobs) since he was 14.

Townsend is better, Falque was better before Townsend went to QPR(just because falque was a great team player and never looked like he was trying in the U21's and yet still performing)

Cebellos hasn't done well for the U21's as Townsend has and I think Cebellos is more naturally talented.

I didnt watch the match today but Im not surprised Townsend struggled, he isn't a close touch dribbler whereas Lamela is a futsal dribbler who is most likely use to poor surfaces and the ball going anywhere hence he looked awesome when he was brought on.
But we have to filter everything through poch's system now, I suppose. Do you not see ceballos' attributes as a good fit for pochs way?

I like the way you think thinktank, but don't you think we would have seen Ceballos in the set-up by now, if Pochettino rated him?

I suppose we will learn more over the next week, as players come and go.

I do but I also think Townsend is as well, poch's system isn't that far from what we play in the youth team(which was a million times better than what we saw when Timmy got promoted)

Townsends pace and should mean he go to the role he played when attacking the defence on the inside

Im not going to say townsend is a very intelligent player but he has shown he can play well in the system before and judging him harshly off the back of one performance in a very tough away fixture is harsh considering that players like Hermann, Hulk, Danny and Remy all struggled there.

Cebellos is a great for the system(however he has shown for the U21's he is more greedier than townsend, that its not that bad anymore) but selling Townsend before the like of Lennon and Chadli would be insane imo
Never knew a lot about Kane so never commented and definitely didn't think what I had seen of him was enough to warrant an opinion on where I thought he would end up but from last season and so far this couple of games I can tell he is talented. Can't say that about AT but if you say otherwise then will have to take your word for it
Kane was getting ripped on here a couple years back and was said he was a league 1 player at best(despite him having a very good goals record in league 1 at the age of 17)

I have strong opinions, I don't think you should have them if your not committed to them, if you're committed to them then it's quite likely that you have given them sufficient, careful thought. If they turn to shit, own them.

So...I should not express my opinions on a football forum of the team I love because I don't care what people think of them. Hmmm. The logical corollary being... one should only share opinions that are sensitive to the judgement of others?

Go to bed, sarsipius.

The logical corollary being, Mr self entitled "thinktank", is that if you don't care what other people think about your opinions you wouldn't bother posting them so frequently or get upset when other people pick you up on them for being foolish or baseless or just plain egotistical. Otherwise surely, this whole exercise is as useful as a mad-man howling at the moon. Although sometimes I find that poetically fitting when I think of you ;)

To be honest, if I have to listen to you spouting off about how you backed Poch from the beginning and therefore in some way are responsible for any success he brings to the club, my groans will be audible from space. It's just going to be one big 'I told you so' from here on, isn't it?

Get over yourself, mate. No one cares and genuinely it's got nothing to do with you. Just be happy if we do well.

I mean that in the nicest possible way.

I haven't once said poch rates him.:D

I'm just hoping poch takes a punt on him.

No, quiet simply Poch wont want to upset the team by playing cebellos in front of some bigger names. Unlike the dawson situation he has no guarantee that these wingers/AM's are on their way out

You like me don't you, Sarsipius...I can tell.

If you have to ask that question again - and it's quite an embarrassing one, to be frank (hey, franktank!) - then you're more of an inbred than I thought you were.

My sincere advise to you is to put me on ignore, because from this day hence I am ramping up my "foolish", "baseless", "egotistical" blabber up to a mind-blasting 11. Just for you, because you're such a fan.

Well that's where you're wrong again TT old buddy, because actually I do like you. Sometimes.

You can have some relatively good insights and on (rare) occasions you can be pretty funny.

But to tell you honestly, I don't think anyone likes "know-it-alls" and "told-you-sos" and that's not what most people come here for. So rather than ramping it up, I'm pretty sure we'll see a little toning it down, won't we Mr TT?

Ps do you mean advise or advice? I'm so inbred I can't even tell the difference :woot:

I have no idea what you've taken tonight buddy, hopefully your just pissed. But I can assure you, there will be no such decrease, or cessation, of 'knowing-it-all' or having 'told-you-so' or 'foolish', 'baseless', 'egotistical' rantings or any of your other fantasies.

And every time I read your posts I picture the banjo boy from deliverance; so don't kid yourself.;)

Great result! Lamela, Soldado and Kane were all class... let's hope we really wipe the floors of WHL with the power of Limassol!

Then I'd suggest you've never played football, or certainly have no clue about volleying technique. It went exactly where he was aiming, and he struck it perfectly, cutting under and across the ball with the laces.

I was chatting with the Old Man last night and Bobby was one of the subjects.
I said to him that I disagreed with the consensus that Bobby needed a goal from anywhere, his arse, a misshit or similar. I reckoned he needed a quality finish, hammering the ball in exactly where he meant to put it, in order for him to have his full confidence back. The sort of finish that would have him yelling, 'Oh yeah, I'm back!'
His goal was exactly that,IMO.

I'm now looking forward to being proved right and seeing a glut of goals from Soldado.

But, aside from Lamela, the player I'm most looking forward to seeing develop this season is Kane.
I said it a while ago, but I really do see a budding Sheringham style player in him. Intelligent movement and link up play. His goal was all about his movement, his timing of the run and his first touch. He's targetted a narrow channel and his first touch was perfectly weighted to beat the tackle and allow him to hit it first time under pressure. I don't care if it was Limassol, that touch would have seen him score against anyone.

I truly believe we have an enormous prospect in this lad.

This is what some of us have been saying all last season, and what Bobby's reaction during the City game told us. He is an intelligent guy, and on the most part (im not saying he has had his poor games) he has done well. IMO its been the system or the lack of opportunities that has troubled him. Bobby has never been a complete forward who creates and scores, but IMO hes a Spurs forward, he can play football, link up and finish (yes his confidence is low), MEH ive been a fan of his for years. If only we had him with Modders, Bale or VDV behind him, I think a lot of people would have a different opinion .

Reminds me a lot of Crooks, a very intelligent runner off the ball, but it was more apparent because he had supply from Hoddle, Ardiles and co, intelligent players always looking for the penetrative ball.

I feel I saw evidence of the sort of penetration that Poch is looking to instill in preseason, encouraging the ball to be fed into the forward swiftly, with players bursting beyond the ball, allowing the angled pass from the forward, or for the ball to be laid off to the #10 for the ball into the channels. I haven't seen Dier's goals so I don't know if that is what occurred there, but Kane's goal was certainly as a result of this type of play.
Whilst we still have a ways to go, already I can see the initial fruits of this strategy and, for me, it is hugely encouraging.
On another note, I'm also encouraged by the intelligence I see in many of our players. Both Soldado and Kane are 'thinking' Footballers. Eriksen and Lamela both are quick thinkers on the pitch whilst Lloris and Vertonghen are also intelligent. Early days on Dier, but first impressions are that he is the same. Intelligent Footballers are a must for any successful side, our rivals are littered with them.

Exatamundo. And it's why I like Ceballos so much - he gets it.
I'm actually REALLY looking forward to seeing Ceballos get a run out. There's a kind of exciting abandon in the way he plays. I get the impression that he has absolutely no fear of attempting the difficult, or even outrageous, in a game. It's that kind of player that puts the fear of God into a defence.

Good result in a stadium where good teams have struggled to get a result.

Possibly the best game from Lamela so far and it appears that The Soldier is returning to form, has confidence and that goal showed the class that is within him.

Early days, but progress being shown.

When was he ever on form?

Probably Soldado's best finish for us so far to level, and Lamela will gain confidence from that display. Our defence remains comical however.

Absolutely no surprise to me that we improved after Paulinho and Townsend went off and started working the ball better.
