Would make sense, considering how highly he seems to be rated im sure they will be looking for a lot in add ons. Would be horrible to see him going to West Ham.
Was told 30-35. I Personally expect the top end to be around 30 with realistic add ons. I also believe you could afford to be a bit creative on this one to lower the initial fee and boost the back end payments.

Yea surely lower initial fee with higher add ons both easy and harder to hit. Hope we get involved.

Makes sense, im sure you could include things like England caps as well as the normal appearance fees and European qualification. In this day an age it's really not that crazy of a fee for such a highly regarded prospect.

I think supposed to be more box to box tbh
Does the 6 in Ange’s system not have to cover a lot of ground? If both 8’s are pressing high then the 6 has to cover a lot of space in behind if the press is broken. I know the idea is to squeeze and prevent gaps coming out but it will get broken and then that 6 has to be super athletic. Also key to be press resistant so he’d be a better fit than some others maybe.

I like the look of Scott a lot. He’s that type of player we love watching. Will get the fans excited and bring some moments of magic. Only 19 so plenty of time to develop too.

Would we ever consider sending someone like Devine or Scarlett back on loan in this type of deal?

In theory the 6 is going to sit in the middle together with the two full backs tucking into a trio.

Obviously I’d love for us to be going for such a highly rated youngster. But if we aren’t going to offer him significant first team football I feel it’s a bit of a waste of both our time. If we want him and bring him in, great, but you have to play him and trust him to develop. Or he’d be better off going to West Ham, or Palace, or abroad to Dortmund etc.

If we are going to bring in young talented players we have to start trusting them. Look how Sessegnon has turned out, now that’s partly down to his injuries, but we didn’t really give him chances in the beginning either.

The more i read about him the more i think it's a really difficult decision for him as a player, and for us if we were the buying club.

If he signed for a really big club with cash, e.g Chelsea, they could afford to buy him and loan him out for a year (or two) until he's 1st team ready - which would be fine for both the player and the buying club.

Whereas i'd assume a lower level PL team, say a newly promoted club or Forest for example, would buy him to play him this season. Again all good, he gets game time and club haven't spent big money on an asset they aren't using.

But i'd have West Ham in the same boat as us on this one , i.e not big and rich enough to do it the 'Chelsea' way, and too big to be able to bring him through properly this season, so he wouldn't get much game time and the buying club would have spent decent money on a player who's not playing and not progressing.

For me he'd be better off going for either of the two options mentioned above rather than to sides like us or West Ham - unless i'm grossly underestimating his readiness for 1st team football with us or if we can structure a deal (as Trix alludes to) that allows us to buy him at a price that we can then afford to loan him out at , and he becomes an investment for the future ??

Scarlet struggled at Pompey so I doubt he’d be too if championship club lists
He started great and then got hurt didn’t he. They then sacked the coach and he didn’t get as much of a look in. Came off the bench mostly and when he did start he was on the left.

Sometimes loans don’t work out but at another club he could shine.

You are probably right though, maybe another league 1 season.

Yeah, my local club is Lincoln City so I follow League one closely and especially Pompey who had ex city managers the Cowleys in charge. I think when they were sacked it went downhill for Dane, he wasn’t scoring regularly but was playing well and their fans loved him at the time.

Sess didn’t have the mental fortitude for it either.
