I think we are forming an opinion on this player, quite properly, based on his achievement in the championship yet some of us are not giving the same consideration to Alfie Devine because he's been with us and so not playing regular adult football but is quite possibly of a comparable quality to Scott. I'd like to get Scott in but don't agree with the suggestion we send Devine out on loan to facilitate it, not without a fight anyway.

Sign Scott for next summer, loan Devine to Bristol City for a season so they develop alongside one another and get used to playing in the same team?

Obviously I’d love for us to be going for such a highly rated youngster. But if we aren’t going to offer him significant first team football I feel it’s a bit of a waste of both our time. If we want him and bring him in, great, but you have to play him and trust him to develop. Or he’d be better off going to West Ham, or Palace, or abroad to Dortmund etc.

If we are going to bring in young talented players we have to start trusting them. Look how Sessegnon has turned out, now that’s partly down to his injuries, but we didn’t really give him chances in the beginning either.

Wasn't Sessegnon injured when we bought him? He then when on loan abroad where he did OK but then after a few games for us was injured again. Not his fault but he's been a dreadful signing.

He started great and then got hurt didn’t he. They then sacked the coach and he didn’t get as much of a look in. Came off the bench mostly and when he did start he was on the left.

Sometimes loans don’t work out but at another club he could shine.

You are probably right though, maybe another league 1 season.
IIRC their coach said something along the lines of not thinking that Dane was cut out for being a centre forward and needed to add more to his game if he wanted to make it. That was off the back of him playing Dane as a winger.

Was told 30-35. I Personally expect the top end to be around 30 with realistic add ons. I also believe you could afford to be a bit creative on this one to lower the initial fee and boost the back end payments.
So no trophy related add ons then

It's an idea but how happy would City be to spend a season developing two of our players, only to literally lose half of their midfield the next season?
It would be a good move for us but a pretty bad one for them.

Unless it pushes them to promotion. Lots of lower league clubs do it.

Maybe but it's two very important positions to lose if they do get promotion.
I could understand one player, maybe even two if in different areas of the pitch but both Scott and Devine would be a large chunk of their creative output to lose.

I think Devine will increasingly be involved with our first team this season.

Didn’t Sheffield United literally just do this with some Man City loanees?

I don't know, did they?
I wouldn't have thought it's a common thing to do though because it's not a long term benefit to the squad you're trying to build.
Seems daft to me, to be reliant on two important positions with players that aren't yours.

Id rather ship out Ndombele then Lo Celso but ether way it makes sense.
The thing is, there is no order to follow. We want rid of both. If we only get a bid and suitable offer for Lo Celso, then surely we sell him regardless of what's going on with Ndombele.

We signed Gascogne as a 21yo. Scott will be 20 this August. Even though a year younger, to compare him to the Gazza we signed, is to compare smooth silk with raw lumber.

Is it only me that when I watch that video everyone is raving about, see a kid who has a few tricks in his bag, but usually gets tackled after going passed one or two opponents? Doesn’t he have eyes for teammates and a pass? If that’s the best highlight reel there is, I’m absolutely underwhelmed.

That video I posted was purely to show what kind of player he is not how good he is. Anyone forming an opinion of how good he is purely from a 7 minute youtube video really should stick to twitter.
