Depends. If no one will buy him they may have to to get his wages off their books. FFP is as much about wages as it is about transfer fees.

Any way, I think the FFP is a load of shit. I don't see it making a difference.

That is very true, still even if they do sell him, there'll be a lot of clubs after him. Would be a great signing though.

It'd be pretty funny to see Man City blow around 65-70m on Navas, Fernandinho and Negredo. Good players? Yes. Not nearly worth that much in my honest opinion.

Funny that that still can't get you one Gareth Bale, what is the world coming to and what's happened to football?

From what I have seen I prefer higuain from the others as he has never reached his potential

Negredo though is the most improved player out of the three in the last 18months, though I would prefer soldado if it was between the two tbh

Negredo will be a great striker for city but for us, we would still need a buy another that could score for us whereas soldado is more consistent

A possibility then, eh? Another long term link, who now Shitty are interested in? Forgive me for sounding a little dubious/pessimistic.

I have had my doubts about Negredo in the past but I have to say his goal scoring record is very solid, since 2007 he's at about a goal every 2 appearances, if it's at the right price then I'm all for it.

This guy seems to think we'll sign him (a little bit over halfway in the conversation)

http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/kickoff/130712/giblin-higuain-illarramendi-negredo-and-jese-201548

Judging by Emery's comments it sounds like he'll be off, just a matter of where, if City don't get involved then the asking price will drop or rather the accepted offer will be a lot less than what they are asking, they need money and Navas's sale only partly filled their needs

Could be a good bargaining chip in our dealings with Villa over Benteke as well. They can say they won't be forced into selling as much as they like, but it seems like Benteke is willing to do almost anything to get out.

City seems to be in for him too... Regardless... Not keeping my hopes up, any CL team will be able to steal him away at the last minute breaking our hearts...

Still bitter.... :(

I've no doubts about negredo!.. personally think his style would suit us & more importantly the premiership.. possibly the berbatov type we've been looking for imho
think he will be a massive hit in England.

Not sure I believe the City link tbh. City will be looking at a striker with the profile of Rooney, Ibrahimovic, Higuain etc.

My guess is that we are genuinely interested in Negredo and his club put the City link out there to bump the price or his agent put it out there to bump his wages.

How can you say Soldado is more consistent? they have pretty much comparable goalscoring numbers in La Liga? one season one might edge it the next the other, last season Negredo edged it, the season before Soldado, the season before that Negredo edged it

I just think negredo goes through bad patches more and has been poor at converting chances in the past but the second half of last season he was amazing

Edit: I think he would improve our squad and be better than what we got but we would need a goalscorer as well and Defoe is unreliable imo

I've seen a lot of Negredo and he's definitely not a "Berbatov type".

He's more direct, stronger, makes more runs in the channels and is not nearly as good technically as Berba. But then very few players are in Berbatov's class technically.

I've seen him score a lot and miss a lot of relatively easy chances. However, his scoring ratio in a top league is very good, and much better than anything we had last season.

Crucially, his attitude has always looked good when I've seen him play. He always put in a shift, and because he's physically strong and tough, is a handful for opposing defenders.

I'd say he's better than the scum's Giroud and better than Benteke at this point in time. He's probably at about the same level as Soldado, although Soldado may be a bit smarter as a footballer.

If Shitty are in for him, then obviously we'll be outbid. Plus Sevilla will never sell a top player to us on the cheap, so I think our chances of getting him are low.

He has been a consistent scorer in La Liga even at Almeria, the only times he has struggled to get a good tally was when he first moved to Seville and it took him a while to get the nod ahead of Freddie or Fab and so he played a bit less and was having to adjust to two different partners and he still hit 10 goals iirc, so hardly a poor tally in the circumstances.
The season before last they brought in Toral and he didn't get on with him and there was a bit of a fall out, not just Negredo Toral wasn't popular or effective and he was sacked, either way Toral was playing around with the team and upsetting players and Negredo picking up an injury in October didn't help. Despite all that he finished the season really strongly with 14 goals
Last season he was excellent and scored 25 goals scoring pretty evenly through the season even if he did hit four in his final game, there wasn't any really patchy periods
I think the only reason why Negredo might seem to miss a few goals is because he does like to find space with a chance of a shot on goal and he likes to try and get his shot away first time, so he tends to volley a lot, that at times can mean a shot goes high wide or mighty but it also means when he catches them right the ball is in the net before the defenders can blink. All strikers will miss a few goals, even Messi and Ronaldo but the important thing is how many they score and Negredo is up there with pretty much the best, not of course the Messi/Ronaldo level but the nest rung, lets be fair last season he was only three goals off the excellent Falcao 25 la liga goals to 28
Sorry but I can't agree that he has been patchy over his career and I certainly think that with him and Bale around you wouldn't be needing another goalscorer as well and can't for the life of me understand why you think Soldado would be fine without another goalscorer yet not Negredo, that defies logic and their comparable records. I can understand wanting a good cover striker for either in case they were injured or took a while to adapt and if JD and Ade go then for sure we would without doubt need a cover, but as long as he's not injured Negredo will score goals

I think for more or less the same price Benteke would be a wiser longterm investment than Negredo, but Negredo (or Soldado) would give us that extra level of class instantly. By the looks of it Man City are getting Jovetic, not Negredo so would expect that Sevilla's asking price will drop to match.

That's a shit-ton of money. C'est la vie. Just another day for Manchester City. And they're reportedly about to drop a bunch of money on Jovetic, too.

If Negrado is worth €28m , then the market has been inflated beyond repair. Not a chance is he worth that, a good player no doubt but is he worth that price? Never in a million years.
