Most on here prioritized the fucking Capital One Cup because all it would've taken was one win. I would say 90% of SCers wanted us to go all out for that Cup and were ok with playing a shit lineup- including starting Roberto fucking Soldado- at the Lane against Fiorentina. There was a great deal of English pride on display, and the thought of beating Chelsea was so first and foremost on people's minds that they were blinded to the reality that we were never, ever going to beat them in that match. We'd already destroyed them in front of the world on New Year's Day- there was no way on God's green earth that we were going to do it again a little over a month later.

I'm not English- and I don't give a FUCK about that joke of a Cup. If given the choice, I would rather be playing in the semis of the Europa League once- this year- than win two League Cups. Yes I said that. My hatred towards Poch for throwing the EL this season knows no bounds; we could've easily won that fucking thing. Start Kane at WHL and we win.

This whole "it's about winning a Cup/game is about glory" nonsense is pure delusion; winning a Mickey Mouse English Cup does absolutely fucking nothing for us as a franchise. Europe or bust I say. And as I see who's left in the EL my anger grows; this was- and is- our only way into the Champions League. The Europa League final eight were basically 8 Tottenhams. This was truly the year to go all out and try and win it.

I've moved this post to hear following a multiple neg spamming of my posts by angry users. I get the feeling there's a lof closet Brentford fans around here - when did we start giving a shit about obscure London football clubs?

"I really want to see Pritch get his chance next season which is part of the reason I'd like us to move Lamela on.

And from a totally dispassionate perspective, do we really want the Premier League further devalued by a club like Brentford in it? I'd rather see clubs like Wolves, Derby or Ipswich go up. Decent histories and fan bases and can make a go of staying up for a few years."

I'd like to add that Brentford is a poxy little shithole of a place and a poxy little shithole of a club and doesn't belong in League 2 let alone the Premier League and I hope they lose in the Play Offs and stay where they better belong.
But the ground has a pub on every corner.

* I genuinely don't care if Vertonghen leaves this summer, if he had half the attitude of Dawson he would be a monster. Now? More like a gerbil. I was so excited that we bought him, what a disappointment he has been.
* I also don't care if Mason leaves. I'm all for playing academy players if they're good enough, Mason just isn't. Downward spiral since his debut.
* I'm sick of this 'typical Spurs player' talk, this sort of 'magician, flair player, crowd pleaser'. We field several of them every game, trying the Youtube pass instead of actually playing football, none of them will ever live up to the likes of Gazza, Ginola or Bale. What we do need is a nasty **** of a captain (or coach) to scare every player into giving 100% every game, or face the hair dryer.

Completely agreed. There is barely an ounce of ruthlessness in this side, and among the only two players who have it (Rose and Bentaleb), only Rose possesses the sheer athleticism to hurt people with it. Desperately need an element of nastiness in our side, and are especially calling out for a leader who won't stand for the not giving 100% every game.

With each passing game, I become more certain that Pochettino has no actual tactical brain whatsoever. If Sherwood played Mason and Bentaleb vs the most physical midfield in the league he'd be absolutely torn apart. Sick of people blaming the squad as well, we've got good enough players. Dropping Dembele after the successful Eriksen - Dembele - Lamela experiment was fucking criminal.

I've seen nothing from Poch to suggest he's any better than any other manager we've had over the past 10 years.

I still think that there would have been more support for him if he'd been an official 'caretaker' manager.

Agreed. I also think if he hadn't been so abrupt right off the bat by introducing Bentaleb as quickly and abruptly as he did and by making some of the strangest midfield selections I've ever seen any side make, people may have been more tolerant. What was it, his third league match when he trotted out a midfield pairing of Eriksen and Holtby and we consequently drew with West Brom at home? Was an uphill battle out of a canyon with no ladder from those moments on, and jumped back down from any progress he made with his sideline antics.

All that having been said, he was so right about a great many things. We have a mentally weak squad, the incomers weren't all that great, we were shockingly shite at passing from deep midfield, and English managers are a bit discriminated against by fans of the bigger clubs.
