We are kidding ourselves that a team with the likes Mason,,Dier,Fazio,Lamela,Townsend,Soldado, Naughton,Rose,Davies, Kaboul etc etc will ever seriously challenge the top 4.

We accept them we accept mediocracy..they are not really top draw and we are where we are cos they are not good enough.

I am sorry to say only Eriksen,Lloris Verts,Bentaleb and,Walker are really top draw.....i hope Poch is given the time and tools to sort it out.

Nobody thinks we're going to get top 4 with that team.

Actually what you just posted is pretty much the majority opinion, not the unpopular one.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

My post says we wont even challenge for top 4, not get top 4....
That doesn't need to go in the unpopular amnesty thread IMO. I can't think there are many on here that can think we are genuinely competing for top 4.

Ok .....here goes then......i don't rate Kane.:)

Kane was expected to be our 3rd striker at the start of the season - in his first complete season in the first team squad.

He's now in double figures for goals scored - which is a decent return for a 3rd striker.

Unfortunately he's needed to assume the role of lead striker as neither Soldado nor Adebayor seem to be able to score on a regular (or even irregular) basis.

So as goalscorers we need to rate Kane higher than the 2 experienced strikers we have so far this season.

Which is possible even if you don't rate Kane.

This year (from AVB's sacking to now) is easily the most disillusioned I've been as a Spurs fan and has been the most I've wondered why I bother.

Yep sacking AVB has made us a better team ( not) and now some are saying Poch is not the right man, we never learn:(

There is no sign of any philosophy from MP. I don't think there was ever one.
However there are plenty of signs that MP has a hard right authoritarian ideology,
No wonder they like him on COYS.

Players being disappeared is part of the pattern, and the subsequent sea of propaganda.
I'm surprised a maverick like Adebayor lasted as long as he did under this regime.

Of course there have been some very successful tyrants - Shankly, Ferguson, Clough.
And if we achieve half as much as any of them then who are we to turn our nose up?

What disappoints me is that we may have found a dictator without any redeeming charm what so ever.
I don't think he even likes football.

Mason only seems good to us because of a mixture of:
- the fact he's still buzzing/motivated off of being a youth player that's finally "made it"
- that he seems to actually care about Spurs and puts in real effort
- every new CM we've had since Modric has been in the bulky, dribbling, "force the ball through the defense with strength" mold rather than the technical, playmaking CM type that we have been missing so badly. and Mason gives us a glimpse of that.

but i honestly think he's a flash in the pan. his novelty will wear off soon and I don't think he'll make the grade. We'll be looking to improve upon him ASAP. either in Jan or this summer.

I really don't get the hype surrounding Eriksen. His corners are always played short and his good free kicks are few and far between. While his defensive work-rate has improved under Poch he still goes missing too often and was the reason Rose was exposed so badly on the left last season. He has all the ability to be a great player but he doesn't want it enough IMO. I also think that our fans rate overrate him because they're either desperate for another world class outfield player and want it to be him or just like the fact that he had a few good games when he was given a free role last season. He's been poor more often than not this season but generally escapes the criticism that others receive.

I know many will disagree but I would much rather keep Chadli and Lamela if we were to sell one.

What's the point in hoping Lamela reaches his potential - we'll sell him if/when he does.

You don't want us to have an extremely talented player playing really well for us for a few seasons then make a huge profit out of him?

I don't rate him either, he's greedy and a poor finisher.
But as much as I rate Soldado, right now he's doing more than Soldado or Ade.
CF should be a massive no.1 priority come January.
I don't particularly rate Mason either.
I'd take MS to replace mason.
Bentaleb I would keep.

I know I'm going to get slated for this but as well as Kane has done recently and showing improvement he still would not get into other teams around us challenging for the top 4 etc.
I think we look at him with Spurs tinted glasses because of the determination and desire he shows, but sorry to be a top team that is not all that is required, perfect for mid table eg Stoke, you just have to watch how they play and they give there all. But we're tottenham and aim for higher.

I'm not saying Kane will not become a top player but at the moment he's not quite there and shows too much greed.

A top striker is required that will spark fear in the opponents when they see him line up against them.
