Similarly to a post by someone in another thread, I'm perplexed as what why he is perceived to have done so little by some, 5th and a cup final.. yes with an easy run but still had to win the games. That's a solid start, and it would have been spectacular and unexpected if he'd got 4th. He's only just been allowed to make his first attacking signings this window, and has the youngest team in the league - which isn't necessarily something to celebrate as an achievement per se, but puts his results into context as to our big game experience and our squad building.

All this talk, some people have even said he might only have 4-6 games to save his job, seems utter bollocks to me... and I'm sure to our baldy overlord. He's not the messiah (yet) but he's made a competent start. The fact he is a gent doesn't hurt, I know some fans are obsessed with Gordon Gekko type loudmouth 'winners' but Ancelotti has done ok without being a wanker.

cos how many times have we actually played well under him? five? yeah the cup final was nice and 5th was surprising but we sorta stumbled there rather than actually warranted our place, the main reason we finished fifth was because liverpool gave up

i want him to stick around but you could easily make an argument that both avb & sherwood did as much, if not more than mauricio has done, and they received the brunt of the hate

I don't rate Chadli at all. Lazy ****, reminds me of Dempsey in that he'll nick a goal after doing fuck all & looks good on MOTD, but watch him in the flesh & he's dire.

I don't rate him entirely poorly as a player, as he does possess some useful traits, but he really does provide extremely little aside from his odd goal. Don't believe I've ever seen him beat his fullback in EPL play to win a favorable angle of attack (just goes across the box or to the byline, then does nothing in either scenario), doesn't press particularly well, doesn't create for others, not a particularly good passer in general, and badly lacks confidence to take defenders on. I'm happy to keep him as he provides goals and seems to have a good attitude, but I'm even more happy that we've finally brought in competition for him.

Not too sure that unpopular!
Oh, right, i thought i'd have a a fight on my hands .. I put it in here to claim amnesty after having listened to their latest pod this morning on the walk into work!

Haven't listened to it for a while and it's really getting dire now. To have to suffer through a 20 minute section of them all stroking each others shafts over how many Retweets and facebook likes they get ... FFS! And the forum speaks for itself. :banghead:

A caveat; I will praise them for the efforts of '1882' though.

Fucking hell, I'm going to give you some credit and assume you're just trolling - because nobody can be that stupid.

I don't care if you disagree with my view, but the idea of this thread is that I shouldn't have to actually read tedious disagreements. You do understand that when Spunkybackpack talks about wanting to delete this thread because of morons who can't comprehend its basic purpose, he has people like you in mind? Maybe? Has the penny dropped yet?
I know I am breaking the amnesty rules here but well fucking said!

The pods definitely gone downhill, this weeks 'guest' was some bloke who has managed to write some funny tweets !?
And I'm pretty sure they had Neil Eatson on as a 'guest' last year.

Don't get where all the Tom Carroll love comes from. He's never stood out to me. Never a liability but otherwise...

Ok so I after going to my first game of the season I came to an uncomfortable realisation that while I didn't like Redknapp and wanted him to leave I haven't really enjoyed watching Spurs since he left. Yes there was the joy of watching Bale in his final season and there were the home wins last season against Chelsea and Arsenal but these have been very isolated spots of enjoyment in a generally bleak landscape of boring football. Today was another case in point, good to get the win but there was a distinct lack of excitement for most of the game with no obvious pattern of attack and repeated frustration as we congested the middle of the final third with acres of room on the wings. It made me long for the days of Bale and Lennon rampaging down the wings, Modric slipping a player in midfield and VdV just being class. We have a lot of competent players but no X Factor and I miss that.

I think Poch is getting away with results and performances that AVB would never get away with.

He got 5th and a cup final last year, he's only just been allowed to purchase any attacking players whatsoever by his chairman, one of whom has hit the ground running. We've played alright so far and after this win we're ok for points relative to most of our rivals. For someone who is so critical of Levy it seems strange to fall into his trap of allowing the manager to become a scapegoat. Especially a mere 6 games in having (undeservedly) lost once.

Very odd that this got a couple of agrees but a post of mine in the match day thread saying pretty much the same thing gets slaughtered?

Other than the goal I struggle to see what other clean cut chances were created yesterday?
