His heading of the ball looks top draw from his youtube vids.
It was either him or his brother that really impressed me in the WC. Constantly looked like one of the more dangerous players on the pitch.
Edit: upon looking up the scores I'm guessing it was Andre as he scored twice.
Indeed. What impressed me the most about his WC was his great attitude though. Looked like a leader on the pitch and always got stuck in and gave 100% when things looked rough. He was fantastic. His goals against the US and Germany were pretty awesome. A nice header against Germany and an outside of the boot strike against the US.
I agree about Ayew, if he could play on the right or striker, I would think differently but the left side of the AM 3 is really strong in the academy with Oduwa & Azzaoui coming through and although Pritchard can play across the 3, if has a strongest position, it would be on the left IMO.He's a good pro. I've always quite liked him as a player for his all round qualities. Hard worker, good technique, quite quick. But I think his actual end product can be a bit wanting to be honest. If we didn't have such a great academy I'd say on a free, as a squad player (who can play most attacking positions including as a striker) we could do plenty worse than Andre Ayew. He'd fit Pochettino's ethos pretty well. But I'm not sure we need to be padding our squad right now with just "decent" players.
I wouldn't be disappointed if we signed him but I wouldn't be too excited either. I know he could do a job reasonably well, just not sure whether it would be well enough to help propel us up the league.
Dimitre Payet is the man we really should be signing from Marseille.
For those saying he's a good pro, he was almost excluded for arriving later than requested by Abram Grant. Also, this isn't the first time, pretty sure he went AWOL for a year or so.
However, these problems do seem to be tied to international duty and not club level

I guess that's what counts really. There does tend to be a lot of politics regarding African teams (His brother and KPB also went AWOL), so there may be deeper reasons behind this.I wasn't really talking about off field stuff, of which I have very little knowledge to be honest. I just meant as a player. He's not lazy, he works for the team, he's got a good all round set of attacking skills.
Nope.So how close are we to actually signing this guy? I know there is talk about him wanting to come in the summer. Is there any concrete info of this deal happening?
He's not available on a free this summer, he signed a 1 year extension with Marseille.
The good thing is that he's coming from a system very similar to ours and he's done extremely well at it. So in theory he checks all the boxes.Seems like a very logical signing. That said, we often have the issue of making logical signings that turn out not to fit the squad, the manager, or the tactics. I don't care that he's young or that he's free, I only want him if Poch wants him and he's one of the best players we have identified for the role that we need. No more business signings.
