Directly contradicts Trix' latest ITK, but I'd certainly be open to it.

Looks a good player. Fast, strong in the air, scores goals from midfield.. free, too, I believe.

Like I said I know we were looking at him, and I'd be very happy if this does happen. From what I understand though there are others higher on the list. Ings choosing Pool could well have made a difference as far as our options for the advanced positions are concerned. Here's hoping anyway, as I think he is a very good player.

Haven't seen much of Ayew but I do trust pochettino and his judgment.

Seems like a player with a good work ethic and most importantly has attributes that will improve the squad. Pace, power, direct, non stop running and can finish too.

For a free transfer.... You can't go wrong.
*Cue boring, pedantic and repetitive reply of "there's no such thing as a free transfer"*

He has a very bad goal return which is worrying. I know he plays as a winger but I'd prefer someone who could help out in the scoring stakes. At the moment we only really have Kane, Eriksen and Chadli. If he does take Chadlis place then that is a lot of goals we'll miss.

Ayew does score goals though

Not entirely sure on the source, but for anybody interested:

"@HotspurRelated: Le10Sport expect Tottenham to announce the signing of Marseille winger Andre Ayew in the coming days. #THFC http://t.co/G3CrfngDbT"

(The next tweet goes on to say he had an offer from Roma, but would prefer to play in the PL with Spurs).
Unfortunately, I believe 'Le10Sport' is another one of those Metro-esque French websites...

a poster called gilzean498 on spurs odyssey had posted this, although the info is 10 days old........

This is the closest I will ever get to ITK. My brother-in-law vaguely knows Andre Ayew through a mutual Ghanaian friend.

Some of you will know that Ayew played his last game for Marseille the previous weekend and the friend invited my brother-in-law out to Marseille to watch the game and spend some time with the Ayews at their apartment.

Knowing he'd been connected with us I told him to find out whatever he could.

Anyway, he was told that Roma was his most likely destination. As he speaks English he wouldn't mind coming to England but is more likely to get Champions League football in Italy.

He is also looking for a lot of money, which might deter Roma. Finally he supports Liverpool apparently so if he came to England they would be a preferred destination.

Spurs didn't even get a mention. English clubs would probably pay him more but none of the CL clubs here would want him.

So I can't say it won't happen but 10 days ago it didn't seem very likely.

Interesting stuff. Ayew would be a massive signing. So good. And on a free awell.. Watch this space. I am 100% sure we are in for him but I doubt we've signed him yet. He was Roma bound a few day ago but I think we have a chance.

As for Stambouli, he was due to sign for Marseille before coming here, but his dad was sacked by Marseille a few months before and told his son not to sign for them. But things change.

All this has legs anyway.

If we are to sign Ayew, it would be a top top top signing. Mark my words.

How do you know it has legs?

Ayew would be perfect if his name was Erdna Weya and he played on the right wing as a right-footed player.

Personally I think this if we get him, it just confirms that we'll be seeing more of Lamela on the right and Eriksen in the center. Disappointing. We really need to play Lamela centrally if we're going to play 4-2-3-1, and we'd better buy some quality midfielders if we want to play 4-3-3.

It seems the left is now the best position for Pritchard, Eriksen, Chadli, and now Ayew.

Pritchard's best position is the No 10.

Eriksen's most productive is on the left, but he's an outright defensive liability on the wing.

Chadli I hope to be experimented with at striker, and I'm hoping Poch recognizes this as evidenced by his runout at the position in Malaysia. Not saying he'd be moved entirely there (even though I think it'd be his best position), but his versatility seems to have been recognized.

Ergo, bringing in a LW makes sense. We have no outright pacey alternative, as not one of the above are genuine wingers. That doesn't necessarily mean a traditional winger, but that the others are either wide attacking mids (like Lamela) or an auxiliary wide striker.
