I’m not bowled over by this but if it’s what Poch wants so be it. I don’t understand why we’d have waited a year though, frankly
If Pochettino wants him then I'll absolutely bow to his (much) superior judgement, and I'll support him from the minute he pulls on the shirt.

This is an interesting one because it’s all over Twitter and in the news however jj has shot it down a few times
JJ already said 2 weeks ago he wasn't in our plans, so not sure why we're going on about this.
Can everybody please stop bumping this thread. JJ has already said it isn't happening. That made me very happy . It depresses me even to think he might be wrong .
This is really weird, so many news outlets seem to be saying we’re going to sign him, yet JJ keeps say no. Maybe a smokescreen for someone (I can hope)
Jj said we are not interested in him?
Is there any evidence that Poch wants him?
imo this is purely a story to put pressure on Everton, I'd be amazed if we were considering him and very disappointed if we signed him
Lmao you just quoted Sky Bet via Ricky Sacks. You're not seriously using that as an authoritative source, are you?I'm guessing you're not going to be in agreement with this then bud.
[@SkyBet] understand Tottenham Hotspur have become the outright favourites to sign midfielder Andre Gomes from Barcelona.
Pochettino is now eager to bolster his midfield and Gomes’s footwork and calmness in tight situations is exceptional, similar to Moussa Dembele.
This is an interesting watch. He was clearly excellent in his short spell at Valencia.
I’d love us to sign him based on the fact that my Everton supporting mates absolutely adore him and it would piss them off way more than when we took Pienaar off them And boy were they angry at that!!
However once JJ pisses on something then as far as I’m concerned you might aswell close the thread so can’t see this happening at all.
In that case I am pretty sure JJ said no because his clause was so complex it wouldn't work. Unfortunately there is no 100% fool proof itk, journo, or anything. Things change and players become available or go off the market all the time. Even Levy himself doesn't always know what is happening and deals he thought he had done fall apart (as we all know) or couldn't do suddenly become available.JJ said Alderweireld wasn’t happening not long before it did

I would not be surprised if Gomes suddenly became available for 15m because Barca just want rid and we have a look. But at that rate Everton would definitely match and that may drive his price up to a point where we think we could find better value.
I think you're being a bit harsh on him there.
From what I've seen, he's a good player who keeps the ball well, has technical skills and has a decent passing range.
There are, however, question marks over the 'intensity' of his game. By that, I mean aggression, pace, power, the ability to relentlessly press the opposition; all traits that the 'elite' level clubs seem to want from their midfielders. This may be the reason Poch didn't show an interest in him last summer.
As a squad player, AG would be fine though. Every team needs midfielders who can come on at 70 minutes and see out a 1-0 or 2-0 lead, by keeping tidy possession of the ball and spotting the passes that set off a counter-attack.
I honestly believe that AG would be one of those signings that underwhelm most fans at the start of the season, but by the end of the season leave fans thinking "Yeah, he was a useful tool in the armoury; he played his part".

JJ says we're not keen.Perhaps Poch is keen because he sees him as someone who can be a "back up" player, and not necessarily a guaranteed starter. If this is the case and Gomes is happy to be a squad player then I'd be happy with him.
