According to TottenhamLive on Twitter, Ipswich have just terminated Andros Townsend's season-long loan spell.

He played for a Spurs XI today against Orient (5-1 to us) and was magnificent, apparently.

Do we think Harry may have plans for him to feature in the first-team squad?

Not if we sign Pienaar he wont. Maybe he'll go on loan elsewhere. He still needs more games under his belt.

If it was Ipswich who made the call it is either because they need cover in other areas and have too many loans or, he didn't perform. For our sake hopefully the prior. either way unlikely to get any time for Spurs unless Bale or Lennon are struck down so will probably go back out on loan.

Keane hasn't given him a look in this season. Him and Caulker are by far our most promising youngster.

He needs to go back out on loan, it will do him more good than being sat on our bench or not even making the match day squad.

I thought he looked very promising during the States tour over the summer, so I'm excited to see how the lad progresses. Also looking forward to seeing how Livermore goes as well - would be fantastic if those two plus Caulker and Walker are in our first team at some point in the future. Players who progress through the club (Even if purchased from elsewhere at a young age) are always more satisfying than buying in ready made replacements.

Not sure what to make of this....thought their fans liked him, held him in high regard as their best midfielder at present.

Did we pull the plug on the loan deal as he wasn't getting the playing time?
Keane obviously didn't fancy him enough to give him the minutes on the pitch, probably not his type of player.

From what people have said, sounds like the Ipswich fans liked him and thought he played well.

Well he didn't break anybodys legs and seem's a generally decent lad.....so you could be right

Any more info on the Spurs XI game? Who else played?

He'll probably go on loan to a side fighting for promotion or if not then a lower prem side.

I never saw the reason why we had 2 keepers on the bench at Birmingham. Anyone know why?

Late pull out by one of our players (Bentley If im remembering right) Was too late to call anyone up else up.

Apparently we travel with 3 keepers just incase anything happens to one of them. So Stripy got on the bench as there was noone else available to fill it

I heard it was something to do with Keane storming off because he wasn't starting and the only available person at the ground registered to play in the league was the 2nd keeper (either Pletikosa or Cudicini).

I do not get the comment 'not enough minutes on the pitch'

Townsend started 11 league games for Ipswich plus 2 sub appearances, scored 2 goals and got a red card. In the league cup he started 3 games for Ipswich. He may have started only 3 of the last games (for reasons the Ipswich fans do not undertand) but the reason 'not enough minutes on the pitch' does not seem to ring completely true. Roy Keane seems to have frozen out a couple of other Ipswich players for no apparant reason either, so maybe Townsend's return has more to do with Keane (his fiery temperament, Keane's currently uncertain position at Ipswich or whatever)

BTW this takes Townsend to over 50 starts (and over 60 total appearances) in the Championship, League 1 (Yeovil, Orient and MK Dons) and cups - not bad for a 19 year old.
