I haven't really watched this guy but he's getting a lot of hype recently

Any good for us even as backup?

Personally think he has a big career ahead of him...its not a case of just flavour of the month. 7 goals this season and thought he gave Vidic one hell of a game at OT.

Doubt he would leave Newcastle though.

Can't scoe many goals from the inside of a prison cell, which is where I fear he is heading.

Been saying we should sign him up for ages when he was smashing them in, in the championship. I do struggle to defend his actions off the pitch though.

Still laughing at this too...

Spurs_Bear - 15-09-2010, 07:48 PM Even though he has scored a hat-trick already he will NOT score more than 10 goals in the league this season. ...

He's a bit like an English Drogba on the pitch, and like Dirk Diggler off it, with added Colombian habits according to the press

He would be a good signing if he cleaned himself up, but to be honest he's Newcastle through and through and he should stay there for a couple more seasons at least to develop as a player

What does say about our strikers? IMO he is a better striker than what we have at the moment.

I can't make my mind up on him. His main attributes are obviously his height and physicality, but he's actually surprisingly quick and works incredibly hard. Get the balll in and around the keeper and he's a nightmare.

He obviously has a lot of problems off the pitch and technically he's pretty poor.

See how he develops.

I'd like to give him a try, but his impact on dressing room harmony may be an issue.

Carroll > Crouch.

He is on form, and if he was playing for Spurs like he is for Newcastle we'd be in a much better position

I just can't see Newcastle letting him go, or him wanting to move from them at this moment in time

Would be keen on Carroll, not going to happen for a couple of years though, maybe when Chrissy H comes back to manage us post 'Arry he could bring him in ;-)
We should have snapped up Asamoah Gyan in the summer, looks a class act!

I like his hold up play - a bit like Viduka - I think he can be an asset for Tottenham that he can hold the ball up well for van der Vaart and Modric to feed off.

The fact that he is also scoring goals is a big positive as well.

I'd have him playing for us. Lets face it, our players arent all saints off the pitch. As Barton said the other day, do we want goody two shoes players who look good for sponsors, or do we want to win football matches?

The problem with signing him now is he has become too high profile and is too valualbe to the Toon.

He is on the verge of an England call up it seems and is constantly in the news (either for his on or off the field antics)

He would cost a shedload of money to persuade Newcastle to sell at this stage and would represent a massive gamble after costing so much and having such high expectations on him as a result.

I just can't see it happening now, if we wanted him we should have made a decent offer when they got relegated and even loaned him back for a season.

If NEwcastle demanded 15-20m for him and we paid it our fans would be on his back the first time he failed to score saying how for that type of money we could have signed x,y, z world star.

Liked him since I saw him murder Dawson (almost literally) two seasons ago. No flash or flair, but strong as an ox, hardworking, pretty quick, good at bringing others into play, lethal in the air and a good goalscorer. If we end up paying double figures for a striker in Jan, it should be him, because come the end of the season this guy is going to be amongst the hottest property going. There's something very Duncan Ferguson about him. He needs to sort himself out off the pitch though.

I really don't think Newcastle will sell in Jan unless very stupid money is offered.

They would struggle to replace him, unless they wanted an exchange for Pav/Keane/Crouch.
