Do you like him or not?

If not , why not?

I'm fed up with English collegues at work and on the media who still hold it against him because he's Scottish and made a joke about the England football team 3 years ago.

It was only banter, so please move on. He's still a Brit, he's still the best tennis player to come out of Britain in decades and he needs all our support.

This guy will really like him if he wins Wimbledon

'Missing' punter stands to win £16,000 on Andy Murray

Bookmakers William Hill have revealed that a 'missing' punter stands to win £16,000 if Andy Murray wins Wimbledon, but he may have forgotten that he placed the bet, says a report.

A spokesman for the bookies told the Glasgow Evening Times that Mike Griffiths, from Denbighshire in north-east Wales, staked £80 in August 2004 on Murray to win Wimbledon by 2010.

Back then the odds on the Scot taking the Men's single title were a staggering 200/1.

The spokesman said: "We've tried to make contact to see whether Mr Griffiths may be planning a visit to Wimbledon.

"However, he's apparently on a touring holiday in northern Spain - with a malfunctioning mobile phone.

"His family can't reach him to tell him how Andy Murray - and his bet - are getting on."

The bookies said that they are currently offering odds of 9/2 that Murray will win the Championship in five sets.

The firm is also offering odds of 100/1 that Andy wins Wimbledon and proposes to his girlfriend Kim Sears during his acceptance speech.

It seems like the 'cool' thing to not want Murray to do well. Good job I'm not cool, cause I really hope he wins Wimbledon.

He gets a lot of stick because he's not charismatic and because he has made a little joke about England in the past. I care not, he is a great player and a bit of banter with the English is fair game as far as I'm concerned.

He obviously doesn't like the camera too much and is just tennis to the core. I doubt he'll do a Henman and become a pundit though, he's well shifty in interviews.

I'm a Federer fan. I support Murray when he's playing because I feel like I should, but at the same time I'm not sure if I should with his comments about not supporting England. Anyway... I still support Federer more than I would support Murray, and I'm hoping Federer doesn't play Murray in the final because I don't want everyone to be against Federer. I seem to find myself supporting Murray more because the crowd at Wimbledon does... so I wouldn't like everyone to be supporting Murray against Federer. I'd be torn. I like completely backing someone. I'm predicting a Federer v Roddick final anyway.

Its nothing about being "cool" not liking him...the guy is completely arrogant and so far up his own ass hes embarassing.

Hope he gets stuffed soon....

I know your a Federer fan, but has this bit about Murray not been cleared up yet?

A Jerno asked murray if he will be surporting Scotland at the World Cup (knowing full well that Scotland didn't get to the World Cup) So Murray made his coments about surposrting who ever is playing England as banter with the jerno. It wasn't the best thing to do but its been twisted so much over time.

I don't like him. Its not to do with him being Scottish, although his obvious dislike of us sassenachs doesn't help.

I like the way this poll is set out so if you say you dont like him its cause hes scottish.

Nothing to do with the fact hes a bellend.

How do you know he's a bellend?

Just because he doesn't stuck up to the media and produce a shiny smile after getting a camera shoved in his face after 4 hours playing tennis in 40 C heat doesn't mean he's not a decent bloke.

Maybe he's just shy and would rather concentrate on his tennis

I like him.
A lot actually.

Not so much that I want to touch him in places, but I think he is quality.

He seems very down to earth and normal. Not sure where people get the arrogance from, because I just don't see it. He trusts his ability, and rightly so.

But in interviews, he can seem a little uncomfortable, but he just seems like a normal young man does, very normal, and I hope he wins.

One thing is for sure with the BBC, While he's winning he'll be British and when he loses he'll be Scottish:grin:

Personally couldn't care less one way or the other, like Flatters I'm firmly in the Federer camp. The guy is a genius and as humble as can be, plus his charity work is an example to so many priveleged people.

just to clear one point up about Murray's anti English comments. They haven't just been confined to football, he was also outspoken about the English rugby team before the world cup final and was sporting a South Africa shirt.

As I say I couldn't care less, however if you give it don't cry foul if you don't get all the support you want.

I'd rather have a moody, fiery character then Mr Middle of the Road Tim Henman. The problem for Murray is that he has to compete with Future All Time Greats Nadal and Federer. Federer is looking in ominous form, though I'd be tempted to have a cheeky punt on Hewitt, he's looking very sharp and focussed.

Quite a few experts I've heard talking about it seem to think that Nadal's knee problem gives him only another 3-4 years at the most before he'll be forced to retire.

I've also never got the arrogance thing people keep going on about. He always comes across as a believer in himself in interviews and he has every right to do so as long as he doesn't go ridiculously OTT, which I've never seen any signs of. And the whole Scotland/England in sports thing I'm sure is just a bit of friendly banter for shits and giggles.

Big deal. He's Scottish, that means he's British, not English.
